"Mommy no! Don't let them take me, Mommy! I am sorry Mommy, I'll be a good girl."

Meredith wakes up from her dream. Wondered why she was having that dream in the first place.

She's been having the same dream every night since she bumped into that woman at the hospital.

Meredith hasn't thought of her Mother since they left Seattle when she was 5 years old, that's how fulfilled she felt with her family. She doesn't remember anything from before that nor did she want to. She didn't ask any questions about her. Meredith was never even Curious about the name Grey that was attached to her last name.

-------------------------------------------

"I can't believe they made us do Grand Rounds. I could've scrubbed in on a Valve replacement with Dr. Burke." Christina complained as they entered the auditorium.

"What are Grand rounds again?" Amelia whispers to them as they take their seats. "They're just some way for surgeons to boast about how they changed the world of medicine through rats or pigs." Meredith answers. "it's another hour of sleep that's what it is." Alex comments while snatching the bag of chips for George's hands. They just giggled along.

"Everybody get up. No one will be sleeping today after I announce this big news." A woman yelled out from the stage and almost immediately, Meredith recognized her as the woman she bumped into a week before.

"For those who've been living under a rock and somehow don't know who I am, Standing before you is THE Ellis Grey, of course of the Grey Method, and Chief of Surgery at Mass Gen."

"Whose Ellis Grey?" George whispered to them as Ellis kept rambling on.

"Whose Ellis Gr- where did you go to Med School? THE Ellis Grey winner of two Harper Avery Awards. One when she was just a resident." Christina defends her immediately, changing her whole demeanor from when she first came in.

"Hey, you alright?" Amelia asks Mer who was suddenly quiet.

"Uhm- yeah, I just realized I bumped into her about a week ago," Mer says and turns her attention back to the blonde woman. Amelia wasn't satisfied with her answer because she still wasn't acting like herself, but later she decides to drop it.

"Two lucky interns, who I will handpick by the end of the day, will be doing the prep work and scrubbing in tomorrow in this hospital's first FULL Gastrointestinal Transplant," Ellis says showing the presentation while everyone gasped.

"Yes, you heard me right, everything from the Liver, Kidney, both intestines, EVERYTHING. This is why I will need two of the best interns, two of the best Residents, and the second-best General Surgeon in the Country, Your Chief, Dr. Richard Webber." As Ellis announces this, Meredith can't help but think again about why that name sounds so familiar. She knew him as the chief of course, but there is something deeper about the name that she can't put her finger on. Now to add to her train of thought she realizes that her name was attached to a Grey.

No one in the family has ever mentioned anything about the name Grey, so Meredith thought it was just purely a coincidence that they had the same name.

"Meet me at the skills lab right after this so I could assess your abilities up closely." Ellis continued on and once she was done, all the interns went on their way to the skills lab.

"Uhm-I just remembered, Addison said she had a cool surgery for me to scrub in on so I guess I'll pass this one," Meredith says halting Christina and Amelia.

"Really? Other than Christina you are the most surgery-hungry out of anybody I know. Come on Mer what's up with you?" Amelia says, now confirming that she really is acting differently today. Christina realizes this too and looks at Mer intently

"It's fine, I haven't got to try being in surgery with Addie so it's all good. You guys kill it in there." Mer says quickly tapping their shoulders and running off before they could say anything.

--------------------------------------

"Hey, Addie do you have a surgery I can scrub in on?" Mer asks as she gets in her office.

"Uhm, not really but I am heading to the pit for a consult-Wait aren't you supposed to be in Grand Rounds? I heard they have the interns competing for a chance to scrub in." Addison asks as they rushed down to the pit.

Meredith couldn't find an answer because she herself was stunned at how she turned down a shot of a lifetime.

"Meredith is something wrong?" Addie asks as they rode the elevator.

"I'm fine." before Addison could say anything, the elevator door rang and opened. Meredith quickly headed to the trauma room.

------------------------------------------

It turns out that the pregnant patient needed an Ex-Utero Intrapartum Treatment (EXIT). So Addison needed to take the baby out to fix his airway after the patient got into a massive car crash.

They tried waiting for general but Addison decided that they'll have to just catch up in the OR.

"What have we got?" A familiar voice came into the OR. "Excuse me, I was under the impression that Dr. Webber would be joining us today," Addison asks as she continued working on her patient while Meredith held the suction.

"Well, Dr. Webber is in Surgery. So they sent me. Ellis Grey and you Must be Dr. Montgomery-Shepherd." Ellis says while being gowned.

"OK, Uhm-patient has a perfed bowel," Addison says still trying to take the baby out.

The surgery was a success and Addison asks Meredith to close.

"I must say, for a resident you have impeccable talent." Ellis compliments Meredith's skill.

"She's not actually a resident yet, she is only an intern," Addison says proudly of her little sister.

"Is that so? What's your name intern?" Ellis asks stunned to see how Meredith did the closing and that was only close. Ellis Grey was never easily impressed.

"Meredith Grey-Montgomery"
