------------------------------------------------------------

It was the day of Ellis Grey's Groundbreaking Surgery. Meredith was a little hungover but she straightened herself up and decided she won't be thinking about anything in her personal life. Nothing about her mother today. Today she is taking part in the evolution of medicine with one of her best friends, and THE Ellis Grey, two-time Harper Avery Winner, who is in no way her mother. That is at least what she kept telling herself.

---------------------------------------------------

"Full GI Transplant: Surgery Day. Start time 9:27 a.m. " Ellis says to the camera that was filming the historic event. Addison was up at the Gallery watching over Meredith since she had the day off.

Addison couldn't stop thinking about what Meredith told her at the bar last night. What if Ellis was really her mother? I mean nothing would actually change in her life. She'll just be living with the thought that her biological mother didn't love her enough or at all to at least reach out to her. God-she'll be devastated. This thought was what kept her entertained during the whole surgery.

"Dr. Yang, now that the perishable organs are now exposed what are we to do?" Ellis asks Christina, making her voice extra audible so the camera could still catch up on what she was saying. She gives the procedure correctly. "Nicely done Yang. Now that Dr. Webber has successfully retrieved our donor organs, Dr. Grey-Montgomery, What are we supposed to be doing at this point in time?" Ellis asks Meredith this time."In a normal liver or kidney transplant, we would put the patient on Bypass, clip the donor organ's major arteries and attach it, but since we are dealing with a  full Gastro-Intestinal transplant, attaching the organs will take too long for the patient to be on Bypass which if prolonged, will start to put a strain on the heart. So instead, we will be putting the patient's heart on hold which gives you, Dr. Grey, a total of 20 minutes to attach all five organs. This process is otherwise known as a standstill operation, which is why Dr. Burke here is present, while Dr. shepherd will monitor brain function." Everybody, including Ellis, was surprised at how Meredith practically explained the whole surgery without flinching or stuttering. Addison and Christina were the most impressed as they knew Meredith was probably still hungover with the amount of Tequila she downed just last night.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To no surprise, the surgery was a success. Meredith and Christina were given a chance to close while Ellis wrapped up the whole thing with the cameraman and the production team.

"You were amazing in there Mer-Mer!" Addison jumped with glee holding a cup of coffee for her. "Thanks!" Meredith says too tired to protest.

"There's my girl!" Jackson runs up to her giving her a kiss and a danish. Addison stepped to the side feeling slightly uncomfortable seeing a guy's tongue in her little sister's mouth. "Ok alright, he-hmm That's enough, remember where you are," Addison says breaking the two off.

"Oh, Uhm Mer. Archer and the Captain will be visiting later tonight, what time does your shift end?" Addison asks. "I have the rest of the day off actually. I just need to finish signing off some papers about the Surgery." Mer says.

They all went their separate ways and Meredith went to sign off the papers like she said she would.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Addison just came out of a 3-hour surgery, so she thought she'd take a quick nap before Archer and the Captain arrived from Connecticut.

She went into an on-call room on the third floor. She opened the door to see a completely naked Jackson, on the bed. "Oh sorry- Wait a minute-" She turned away but realized that the woman under him wasn't Meredith but Izzie Stevens. "Shit- Addie-Addison, Dr. Montgomery Shepherd!" Jackson stutters and jumped off of Izzie while quickly putting on some pants, while Izzie just pulled the blanket up to cover her whole body. "Save it, Jackson." Addison storms off while Jackson rushed over to her, now fully clothed. "Dr. Montgomery pls. I know what I am about to say will be incredibly stupid, but please don't say anything to Meredith, I do love her it's just she's been distant-" Jackson tries explaining but Addison wasn't having it. Addison sprinted looking for Meredith while Jackson still tried keeping up with her.

Addison finally found Meredith in the lobby, she was about to tell her when two people called out. "Mer-Mer! Addie!" Archer and The Captain yell enthusiastically while heading over to them. Jackson slightly grinned at Addison knowing her plan of telling Meredith backfired, so he went over to Meredith's side giving her a light kiss on the cheek. Addison was practically fuming trying to fake a smile while Archer and The Captain hugged them.

They were catching up in the waiting room when a familiar woman caught the Captain's attention as she passed the hallway. The captain excused himself to get to her, Meredith noticed this and decided to follow him. Jackson realized that Mer left so he quickly sneaks off before Addison notices herself.

"Why are you here? Last I heard, you were some bigshot over at Boston." The captain whispered pulling Ellis to the side, Meredith quickly hid behind a wall. "I am- I just had a case here. I didn't know she was becoming a doctor, let alone her working here, Montgomery" Ellis says knowing why he was being worked upon her presence. "You met her? Talked to her? Did you tell her?" He says getting more and more aggravated after every word. "Yes I did, she scrubbed in on the surgery and she was extraordinary, and no, I didn't tell Meredith that I was the mother who willingly gave her up without hesitation" Ellis rants back at him while Meredith was unsure of what she felt about the revelation but quickly fled before she heard any more.

Meredith was wandering around the hospital hoping to find some kind of clarity when Jackson rushed up to her. "Hey Meredith, Perfect timing, come on," Jackson says pulling her into the intern locker room.  Absent-mindedly Meredith just followed.

"Meredith, we've been together for 7 years now, and in all that time together, I got to grow to know and love the wonderful person that is you. I won't make this long, because I know how you hate all the lovey-dovey so here it goes." Jackson got down on one knee and that's when Meredith realizes where she was and what was happening.

"Meredith Catherine Grey-Montgomery, would you grant me this favor and let me be your husband?"
