"Yeah, that makes sense. . . What if you're Hokage, though? I don't think I'd be a very good leader of the black ops. . ." Hashirama admitted. He was still holding the Uchiha close to him and stroking his hair. By now, Madara had finally relaxed and loosely held Hashirama in return.
"I doubt that I would win the vote. . . You are much more popular with the villagers, they seem to be terrified of me. I can lead an army, but not a village. . . I am not soft enough, like you, reckless Senju. . ."
"I'll just pretend that's a compliment!" Hashirama grinned. "Really, though. . . Have some more faith in yourself, Madara. . . It's unlike you to doubt your abilities."
Madara shifted a little. He admitted, "This Hokage thing is. . . Much different from anything I have done before, though. All I am used to is war, and leading as a commander, not as a politician. . . There is far too much darkness within me to lead this village. You are better suited for the role, Hashirama. . ."
"Mada. . ." His heart broke hearing Madara say this.
Madara quickly moved on. "Anyway, there are more important matters. Next, we should discuss the details of the role of Hokage, and how the Hokage would interact with the five main forces of the village - the police force, the black ops unit, the shinobi force, the feudal lord of the Land of Fire, and the villagers. Afterwards, we should discuss external affairs - how the Hokage would interact with other villages. Since our clans are formidable, the news of our alliance is sure to have an effect on other clans' affairs. It is likely that other clans are forming alliances as we speak in the hopes of creating their own villages - perhaps even with the hopes of defeating our clans. We must be prepared to deal with these other villages, should they become a threat to Konoha."
"Ugh. . ."
They continued like this for hours, laying together and discussing matters of the village, until the sun started to rise. Madara saw the light from under the doorway and knew they should get up. However, as much as he hated to admit it, he liked staying with Hashirama like this - just the two of them, together, discussing the village. . . It was nice. He didn't have to worry about the elders or Hashirama's stupid brother, and he knew that Hashirama genuinely cared about his input.
"I guess we should get up. . ." Hashirama grinned at Madara. ". . . Or we could just wait until someone comes and gets us. . ."
"You are truly helpless," Madara smiled.
A few moments later, they heard someone knocking on the door. "Get the hell up, you two! There's a village waiting for you, did you forget?"
Hashirama grumbled. "Ughh. . . I guess we have to get up now. . ." He got to his feet and opened the door to find an angry Tobirama. He laughed and scratched his head, "Hey, Brother! Don't worry, we're awake, we'll be right out!" He shut the door in his face and leaned against the door, groaning. He already had to deal with Madara's wrath earlier. . . He really didn't feel like facing Tobirama's right now.
Madara got up and stretched. "Fool. . . I told you we should have gotten up hours ago. And why do you let him tell you what to do? You are his elder brother."
