How Often They Cry

Darry

  He cries every few weeks. It's always out of stress and over his parents. It's always a soft cry that no one hears because he locks himself in his room at night so Soda and Pony don't hear or see.

Two-Bit

Same as Darry— every few weeks. He's actually really sad but he feels like he shouldn't be, that he has no reason to be. Sometimes he breaks down though.

Dallas

  This one is a shocker— at least twice a month. He's alone in his room, having a breakdown. He wished he could be different and wishes his life was different and wishes Johnny had a different life. It's a really sad cry.

Steve

  He's not sad that often. He mostly cries out of fear or depression every 3 months. His breath gets all shaky and he hides his face in shame because he always breaks down in front of the gang and he feels very ashamed every time it happens.

Sodapop

  He doesn't take his own sadness seriously. He cries at least once a month but it's always short because he smiles afterwards. He doesn't like crying because he feels like he shouldn't.

Johnny

  He cries the least. Yes, he's sad, but he doesn't cry often. Every couple of months, like maybe seven months, he'll cry. He'll breakdown over a small thing and his whole world comes crashing down and he realizes just how bad he has it.

Ponyboy

  Every two weeks maybe. He's really sensitive and gets upset easily. There's nothing wrong with that though, he just has more problems than a 14 year old should have.
