"Gooo gooo gooo gooo!" Brooklyn is screaming at the top of her lungs while running away from the nurses. I wish I could say I was trying to stop her from doing the dumb shit she's been up to in the last month and a half in this hospital, buttttttt, here I am being pushed at 100 miles per hour down the hospital halls in a wheelchair.

"Corner, oh my goodness, Brook, slow down!" She pulls back sharply, and somehow we manage to make the turn smoothly. We both look back, and the nurses stopped running and are hunched over out of breath as we continue to run away. We make it outside the hospital and sit on a wooden bench to catch our breath. She hands me my oxygen mask, and we both stare at each other until I stop wheezing and burst out laughing.

"You're such an ass!" I say, tossing all the jello cups onto the ground.

"Heyyy, don't ruin the merchandise. We nearly died trying to escape with them." She smirks at me, and I can help to mimic her smile.

I expected the D-word to frighten me, but with Brooklyn here... it's quite the opposite. I feel alive for the first time in my life. There was no weight of schoolwork on my shoulders, no parents walking on eggshells around me due to my health, no irritating bullies at school, and no relationships with nothing but fighting. Just me and Brooklyn, giving the hospital workers hell and a run for their money for the past 8 weeks. My parents still think i'm in India with Deleena and that I'm taking a year off of school. This is the longest i've been away from them.

Brooklyn holds three different flavors of jello up for me. "Pick one."

"Orange," she tosses it to me and hands me a spoon. I remove my oxygen mask and open it. "You know you didn't have to steal so many."

"You said they were your favorite. Had to get Master something she likes in this hell hole."

I chuckle. "You are aware that we no longer have sex. You don't have to keep addressing me like that." She approaches and takes a seat on my lap.

"Would you like to continue having sex...?" she asks, with a sweet smile on her face.

I let my hand travel up her leg and to her thigh before... pushing her off my lap. She collapses to the floor and bursts out laughing once more.

"Damn Brook. Can't a girl die in peace?"

"This pussy is peace," she jokes, crossing her legs and staying seated on the ground.

I pause for a moment, enjoying the feeling of the wind on my skin. I haven't spent any time outside in the last three days. My levels weren't so good, and it was difficult to even get out of bed. Today was the first day I felt comfortable coming out, and Brook wasted no time in getting me what I wanted. I look at her as she licks the remaining jello from the plastic cup.

"Thank you." She looks up at me, confused.

"For what?"

"For coming and staying here with me."

"It was a no-brainer, you think I'd let my only friend die alone."

I roll my eyes. "I'm not your only friend."

"Do you see me talking to anyone else every day?"

"I see you sneaking off to call Deleena." She looks at the ground and starts playing with an ant. She turns her jello cup upside down and traps the ant inside.

"I just miss her."

"Yeah... so do I." The thought of Deleena causes my chest to tighten, so I put my oxygen mask back on. "Would it be weird if I finally called her?"
