Jo made her way to her room and lay down her body. She's thinking again. Again. Again and again. These weeks, she can't forget about Mae.
"Anong mararamdaman mo kung yung kaparehas mong kasarian ay gustong maging kayo?" she whispered as she opened her eyes―now fixed on the ceiling. Mae's question was still playing in her head again. Again and again. Again and again and again.
Can we be together?
Jo ran her fingers through her ear and stucked them their. She can't think properly. Her heart beats so fast she can even feel it from her temple.
Yes, she already accepted the fact that she admires girls, but that admiration never goes higher than that. She never commits herself into a relationship. She just admires girls. She can have crushes. No mixture of insecurities.
"Though may mga nakarelasyon na 'ko dating mga babae, pero joke lang naman yun Lord. Hindi ko naman po sineryoso," she said low as a single tear fall down her cheek.
Can we be together?
Jo was tired. She moved her body sideways then got a pillow to cover her ear. She will be deaf anytime, any minute now, as she hears her heart doing somersault.
Eh teka, bakit nga ba iniisip ko 'to? Hindi naman ako interesado sakanya eh! She scolded herself.
[Conscience alert: Hindi nga ba?]
Jo shouted and punched her wall. It is only the first time she felt this. She's getting confused and confused and confused. Confusion was eating her except the throbbing of her heart.
"Para bang may makina 'to tapos biglang nalagyan ng gasolina kaya biglang umandar. At hindi ko alam kung saan nanggagaling yung gasoli―haaishiit! Anong makina at gasolina sinasabi ko?! Nagiging corny na yata 'ko! Hindi pwede 'to at baka pagtawanan lang ako ni Aila at ni Jean!" she whispered like crazy.
"Haaay bwiset! Bwiset! Bwiset!" she said kicking in the air.
"Hoy ate, lumabas ka na dyan at kakain na!" shouted Sophie from the kitchen.
"Coming!"
Jo removed herself in the bed and threw the pillow she was hugging. She didn't know why she was punching it to death. "Etong sayo! Hi-yah! Hi-yah! Hi-yah! Eto pa! Uppercut! Hya! Hya! Hy-"
"Mukha kang tanga."
As Jo looked back, she saw Sophie standing on her door ―scowling at her like she saw an alien. Jo smiled mechanically and left the room.
Sophie smirked.
She's thinking that maybe her sister is inlove.
