WHO IS THIS GUY.
Seriously, I was at my wits ends with these surprises and reveals and blah blah blah. I miss when I was running through the forest wondering what my next meal was. Why couldn't life be more simple.
I had just got done beating the immortal crap out of Dylan. Honestly , with everything that's been happening recently, I needed to take my aggression out somewhere and I was glad it was against Dylan's perfect teeth.
But now there's this guy. This wannabe Ben looking guy with a nasty scar on his face. And he has the audacity to knee my best friend in the gut and hold her at sword point.
If the fates are as real as the lares in Camp Jupiter say there are.....
I'll just keep that to myself, knowing the fates, they'll probably have someone stab me in the back or something.
"Let her go!" I shouted.
"No." He responded nonchalantly.
Oh, I'm totally head butting this guy.
My body started to crackle with lightning, but he pushed Reyna's head deeper against the blade. A trickle of blood fell from her neck.
The lightning coursing around my body subsided, but that didn't stop a few sparks popping from my head.
"Huh, I know someone who used to do that." The guy responded to my hair sparking.
Even though he claimed to have me figured out at first glance, I noticed an odd expression in his face. As if he recognized me......
Gwen broke the silence. "Can we skip to the part where you explain to us your super evil plan? Starting with who killed my brother."
I hadn't noticed before, but her leg was all bloodied up and a purple shirt was tied to her upper thigh. It took me a second to realize that Reyna must have tied that on her leg, seeing as she was in her tank top. If this guy had hurt Gwen.....
The guy interrupted my thoughts. "Ha, I could if I wanted to. But that would be a waste of time, time you don't have. Needless to say, I have big plans for New Rome. And as for your brother, Jason, why don't you pull that arrow out of the ground."
The three of us immediately locked eyes on the arrow near Scipio's hooves (which by the way, it was nice seeing her again). It didn't look like anything special, just a standard arrow.
"Go ahead." The guy encouraged.
I slowly walked over to the arrow, while the guy eyed me down, his sword not moving an inch from Reyna's neck.
I pulled the arrow out and examined it. Slowly the truth began to dawn on me. When Ben was shot, the camp scoured the tower and the rest of New Rome. But no trace of the shooter could be found. The only trace we had was a bronze tipped arrow. John immediately took over the investigation once that was made clear, as though he recognized the metal and what it might mean. Speculation across the camp was rampant, many speculated the bronze tipped arrow was how the killer was able to sneak into the borders of the camp. As usually the magical borders would detect intruders, especially those with weapons. Other believed the gods themselves struck him down. Whatever the metal was, it was nothing like anyone has ever seen before.
"The tip..... it's bronze. Just like-"
"THE TIP THAT KILLED MY BROTHER!" Gwen shouted at the top of her lungs. She attempted to stand on her feet, but crumbled to the ground. She looked at the guy with murderous intent. "You'll pay for this. I'll gut you and feed you to-"
