I'm saved by an Idiot

I thought my week just couldn't get worse. Now I had to deal with three huge wolves and a crazy guy who wanted to play heads or tails.

The guy in front of me must have been about my age, thirteen, as we were the same height. The boy wore a dirty purple shirt and ripped jeans. He did not have any shoes on and he had long dirty blonde hair. Not the actual hair color, his hair was blonde and full of dirt and leaves. From the side I could see, he had a scar on the side of his lip and his eyes were blue. On his closed fist he had what looked like a golden coin.

The wolves were a little flabbergasted that this crazy boy decided he wanted to be suicidal, as they didn't attack him. For a few seconds everyone stood incredibly still, waiting to see what this crazy kid would do. Then a pierecing howl echoed throughout the night, which made the wolves in front of us instinctively join in. From all angles, dozens of large black wolves formed a loose circle around the boy and I. The wolves parted and a large man stepped forward.

"Ego sum tam felix." The creepy man had greasy hair and was topped with a crown made of finger bones. The robes he wore were made from fur's from different species: rabbits, raccoons, deers, and even wolves. The robes seemed to be freshly made. His eyes were blood red like the rest of the wolves.

"There are too many of them." I said. A phrase that would soon become a trademark of mine.

The boy seemed less confident in his plan to play a game of chance. Yet he stubbornly insisted.

"Heads or tails?" He asked again.

The man let out a creepy laugh. "You are about to face a painful death, yet you insist on playing a game? I'll humor you." He licked his lips. "Heads."

The boy flipped the coin in the air. The wolves and their leader followed the coin as it flew high in the air. The next thing that happened- well- I stabbed the wolf man's chest. I could care less what this guy's coin did, I took the opportunity to attack. At least I tried to, my blade simply fazed through him. The wolf man was surprised by my attack, but he quickly gained his bearings. He swiped at me with his hand and I barely managed to back away. I winced when I put pressure on my bad leg, and almost fell back.

"Whoa watch it!" The boy behind me yelled. I turned and saw he was holding a golden sword. "You almost ran into my blade."

"Yeah, run, that sounds like a good idea." I grabbed his arm and we bolted.

"Kill them my children!" The wolf man shouted.

The two of us ran down the bridge, while a pack of hungry wolves chased us. I did my best to stay ahead, but I was exhausted. The boy took charge, dragging me instead. He led me down the bridge and turned right to a street that went slightly uphill. We ran for a few minutes, barely staying ahead of the pack. Two wolves ran side by side to us . I dared to look back and the wolf man was right at our heels.

"Get them!"The man yelled.

The wolves closed in.

"NO!" The boy yelled. A gust of wind so powerful blew away both wolves, sending them flying into nearby houses. Suddenly a gust of wind just as strong as the first pushed the boy and I into the air. Unfortunately the wind also gave the wolf man enough momentum to fly forward and dig his claws into my bad leg. I cried out in pain. The added weight seemed to throw off the direction the boy had intended us to go and we flew to the left into an empty field by the road. We all tumbled over each other until we came to a painful stop.

The first to get up was the wolf man, a new murderous look in his eyes.

"So, Lupa hasn't been taking care of just any demigod. She has brought me a son of Jupiter." The boy got on his feet and held his sword awkwardly. He probably had no idea how to use it.
