I grab enough junk food and sugary treats to fill a hand cart,brimming with chips and other shit that has a shelf life for however long.

At the counter an old lady who smells like cats and windex stares brightly at me,eyes shining like I'm her favorite grandchild come to visit.

"Hello my dear."

Her sweet voice makes me smile,real smile not one of those annoying ones I flash to people that piss me off.

"Hi." I say softly.

She smiles as she rings up the stuff,every so often frowning when she comes to certain foods.

"Not healthy for a boy like you to eat all this junk." She says softly.

I shrug,frowning.

"I know,hard to resist though."

She laughs,nodding as her gray short hair shakes in the sunlight.

Bags get placed into more bags,creating a little bag oasis on the counter next to the jar that sells bright lighters and postage stamps.

"You know-

She counts the bills he gave me to pay,despite my arguing of having money he insisted for me to buy whatever I wanted with HIS cash.

Stubborn boy.

"Your boyfriend hasn't stopped watching you the moment you walked through that door."

I smile at her,gaze glancing to him where he stands leaning against the car looking like a guy waiting for his girlfriend to come out her house.

His usual shades and the concentrated look he has with his arms crossed makes him look dangerous,dark soul waiting in the sun for me.

I'm dizzy at the thought.

"Oh really?" I play coy.

She nods,hair bobbing and shining like crystals in the light.

"He can't get enough of you."

She glances to him as I pop a lollipop I just bought in my mouth,sour cherry with sweet apple in the middle.

Sour on the outside,sweet in depth.

Reminds me of something else,I smirk.

"He must be crazy about you."

She turns to me and smiles,pretty smile that I'll never forget.

I bite my lip and roll my eyes with a smile.

"Just a little bit."

She laughs and hands me the bags,smiling with her pink lipstick as her eyes dart between him and me.

I wave bye and head to the door,her soft whistle and wait calling me back as she smiles.

She walks over and tosses something in the bag.

"For later." She smiles knowingly.

I glance down,smirking when I see the box.I wink at her and she laughs,me pushing through the door as the bell rings signaling my departure.

"You know Shades-

His body relaxes once I speak,jaw calming down as his gaze locks on me as I walk closer.

"You stand like that whenever I go in the store you'll scare the customers away."

A small amused look slips on his face and my heart leaps,smile so rare I feel excited knowing I caused it.
