"I wanna take up painting."

I say suddenly, kicking a rock with the toe of my red vans that he bought me once at a store not long ago.

I feel his gaze on me,heavy eyes with tons of worries that flit around like mini dancers that have the routine memorized.

"Why painting ?"

He asks softly, curious tone as we walk down the street in this town that has big clouds hanging high above us.

A sure storm soon to come, everyone hurry and run inside before you become soaked.

Big orange flags indicate that today is the birthday of the town, story of some old couple that needed a sanctuary from hard times.

They walked and walked and stumbled upon this place, small area in the middle of nowhere and decided it was a perfect place for a town.

A perfect place to set up home, make shops and houses and other places that'd fill with people and children of all ages.

A sanctuary in the middle of the chaos.

Much like the boy beside me,my sanctuary in my world of chaos.

I shrug slowly.

"I don't know.I just think it'd be a fun hobby."

I answer honestly, smiling over at the little old couple sitting on a bench as they share a sugary caramel apple.

"Do you think I'd be good at it?"

I ask, glancing to my dark bad boy with eyes that hide behind sunglasses that sometimes shine.

He looks down at me,soft smile forming on that perfect face I adore oh so much.

"You'd be a wonderful painter."

He says softly, smile bright on his face as he stares down at me.

I smile big and lean into him, pulling his arm up and over my shoulders so it dangles over me.

Protecting me from the big bad world,my strong bad boy keeping me safe from all the evil in the world.

His smile brightens more once he's touching me,tightening his grip so I'm pulled more against his body.

My stomach twists happily, heart racing like a car on the highway as I nestle into him as we walk down this sidewalk.

Another old couple with matching purple shirts stands not far ahead of us,the smiles they have are ones of pure gold as they stare at each other.

He looks at her like she puts the stars in the sky,she glances at him like he's made of gold.

It's a look I'll never forget as long as I live, branded so hard on my brain even in my old age I'll never forget it.

"My parents used to look at me like that."

I say quietly, small stinging sensation in my heart at the mention of the two people who are supposed to love me more than the world itself.

I don't miss them, not in the slightest bit.

The dark boy I adore beside me makes me happier than they ever did, showering me with kisses and those small smiles that make my heart race like crazy in my chest.

I don't miss them even the smallest bit,but this couple suddenly reminded me of how they used to look at me.

Memories from when I was younger and how they used to fawn all over me,their favorite toy and possession that later became something like a cockroach.
