"So, Jack. This is your new home!" Caitlin opened the door to her apartment while Savitar walked in, giving Jack a piggyback ride.
"Wow! It's so pretty!" Jack exclaimed.
"Aw, thank you! And this..." she lead them to Ron's old room. "This will be your room," she said quietly.
Savitar rubbed her shoulder in comfort, "this was your dad's old room. Look," he brought Jack back to the ground and showed him a photograph that Ron always carried around.
"That's mommy and daddy!"
"Yeah, and look. That's you," Savitar pointed out.
Jack giggled, "I'm a baby!"
"You were. Now, do you wanna see a surprise?"
Jack nodded his head.
"Okay, tell me, what's your most favourite thing in the world?"
Jack thought about it, then yelled out, "dinosaurs!"
"Close your eyes for me."
The child did as asked and Savitar ran out and back within a second.
"Now, open them!"
Jack squealed when he saw that the plain beige coloured room had been painted green and covered with Dinosaur stickers.
"We can go shopping and get other stuff too."
Caitlin watched Savitar play around with Jack and felt as though her heart could burst out.
For the past few years since Ronnie had died, Caitlin felt as though there was a hole in her heart. There was no pain, no feeling, she was numb for a very long time. She would try to sleep restlessly through her nightmares, go to work in the morning, and come back to try and sleep again. Some days, she barely knew what the date was. She would laugh and smile with the team, but it never felt genuine, she never felt whole.
Until she met him.
Savitar saved Caitlin's life. He revived her; every time he kissed her or called her 'love', or held her hands protectively, the hole in her heart seemed to be filled a bit.
She liked to linger her eyes on him, watching the way he would bring his eyebrows together to figure out a situation, or the way his eyes slightly lit up when they found a meta they were searching for. She liked when they're hands would slightly brush every so often and when they'd make eye contact during the work day.
She liked all those things, sure, but she loved when they were home together. She loved snuggling next to him, watching a movie he hated but was willing to watch for her. She loved how her body would fit right next to him in bed, like a puzzle.
And now, watching him play around with Jack, Caitlin felt like she was the luckiest girl in world.
She was a woman of science and believed there was an explanation for everything, but when it came to her love for Savitar, she just couldn't explain it, no words could do her feelings justice.
A ringing from her phone brought her back from her thoughts.
"Cisco? What's up?"
"Hey, I was thinking maybe we can go out for lunch, the whole team, you know after everything that's happened."
"Yeah, for sure. But Frost..."
