"What do we do? We can't go to a hospital! They don't know how to - we can't -" Savitar stressed.
"Don't worry," Cisco intervened. "I called someone who'll be able to help us. They're on their way to Star Labs."
Savitar looked at him suspiciously but had no time to ask questions. He picked Caitlin up in a bridal style and ran to the lab, where they had already set up a delivery bed a month ago. He gently placed her down and started to pace back and forth across the room.
This was the moment they were all waiting for. 9 months. The team has been planning everything out for 9 months.
It seemed like a long time, but as Savitar watched Caitlin weeping in pain, holding onto her stomach, he realized no amount of time could have prepared him for this.
So many thoughts came rushing in through his mind. Having twins with such powers was another level of impossible; they weren't hit with dark matter, they're born with it. Was he ready to handle that kind of problem? Was Caitlin ready? Could they still do the superhero things the city needed?
Harry's voice snapped him out of his thoughts, "Lena Luthor. She said she could help with the delivery."
Savitar glanced at Caitlin, "what do you say?"
"I-," Caitlin squeezed Savitar's hand and groaned in pain, "I trust her with my life."
As Harry set up all the necessary equipment, Lena ran in, scrubs on and hair slicked back in a ponytail. Kara followed behind her in regular clothing.
"Oh! Your water's already broke," Lena exclaimed. She took a deep breath in and out, "not to worry. How long has she been having contractions for?"
"The past hour or so," Harry answered.
Lena's eyes widened, "I don't need to tell Dr. Snow this, but Savitar, she just skipped the hardest part of giving birth. It usually take hours for the water to break and the cervix to dilate six centimetres!"
"Yeah, the kids are ready," Caitlin paused again as her face shrivelled up in pain.
"This one's worse than before," Savitar said worriedly.
"That's how they work," Kara smiled slightly as she watched Savitar jump closer to Caitlin every time she weeped in pain.
"How do we make it stop?"
"All we can do is wait until there's ten centimetres," Lena stated.
Savitar ran a hand through his hair, while the other one held Caitlin's. There was no obstacle he couldn't run over, not an ocean he wouldn't cross to ensure Caitlin was not in pain. But when it needed to happen, when they collectively chose to battle this pain in order to have children, there was nothing he could do, and he hated it.
He watched Caitlin crumble in agony, but even in such pain, she managed to give him a reassuring smile between each contraction.
Savitar looked away for a moment, aggressively wiping away a tear that had managed to fall.
"Savitar?" Caitlin whimpered.
"Yes, love? What's wrong?"
"Go ... go see how Jack is, please?"
"Cait, I can't just leave you..."
"Yes, you can. Lena will call you when I'm ready."
"Are you sure?"
She looked into his eyes and smiled for a second, a second that felt like forever to the speedster.
"Positive."
