Grace's POV

The days went by a lot quicker than I thought they would. I was fairly busy with school, going out with my friends, and movie nights with Penelope. Demi made sure to text, FaceTime, send pictures, and update whenever she could. It felt good that she fulfilled her promise to me and I also felt silly for acting out about the whole situation. It was currently 12:30pm and I was at the coffee shop doing some last minute studying for my exam this afternoon.

"Dems: I'll be to my place around 6. Will you be there before me?!"

"Graz: Yes! My exam is at 3 and right after I'll head there. You'll text me the code?"

"Dems: Of course I will! I can't can't can't wait to see you, pretty girl."

"Graz: You have absolutely no idea how much I can't wait to hold you in my arms. It feels like it's been forever."

I put my phone down and continued to study. I really couldn't wait for Demi to be back, but I couldn't help but let my mind wander about what our situation will be like in the future. I'm not entirely sure how much I'll like not seeing her whenever I can, but, if I get into this program, I'll be in LA a lot too. I'm not sure. I'm not trying to think too far in advance, but it's hard not to. I was brought out of my thoughts when I heard my phone buzzing on the table. I smiled thinking it was Demi calling, but as I flipped my phone over I saw something I did not expect.

Sophia.

What in the fuck was she calling me for?! It felt like my heart stopped beating and that I was going to projectile throw up. I didn't answer and ended the call quickly. I put my phone back down and took a deep breath. That did not just happen. I quickly packed my things up and figured the walk to campus would help calm me down. I put my AirPods in and started to play my favorite playlist and began to walk and to my surprise, it really did help me. I don't know what she wanted, but I have no obligation to answer or respond. It's not my fault the relationship ended and either way, I have Demi and I sure in the hell wasn't going to let Sophia mess that up. As I got to campus I made my way into my classroom and sat down. I checked my phone again and had a text message from Sophia.

"Sophia: hey, how are you? I haven't heard from you in a while and just wanted to check up on you."

I rolled my eyes at the text and felt myself get angry. I turned my phone off and put my focus into this exam. I just have to get through this exam and then it's the weekend and I have time to spend with my girl. My girl. My heart warmed at the thought of being with Demi and also being able to call her my girl.

Two hours passed and I did not expect that exam to take that long. It's a little after 5 and I headed out of the class, turning my phone back on.

FUCK. I had multiple missed worried text messages from Demi and I felt like a complete asshole. Sophia had me so blindsided that I didn't even think to text or update Demi. I clicked on her contact to call her and after a few rings she picked up.

"Hello?" Her soft voice answered.

"Hi, I'm sorry, Dems. I got so distracted with my exam that I didn't even think about checking my messages." I tried to explain, slightly lying about the real reason for being so distracted.

"It's okay, baby, I figured you were at campus but was just slightly worried still. I'm so happy you're okay though. How was the exam?"

"It went well, my grade will be posted later tonight."

"Guess what?" Demi said.

"What?!"

"I'm here already. I'm just waiting for you to get home now. Only about an hour early but I'm still here and I have dinner waiting for us. Hurry your ass home."
