Demi's POV
I was out at some top notch restaurant in LA with Marissa. I wanted to be enjoying my time, but my heart was missing Grace so much I almost couldn't handle it.
"I think I'm going to get a drink." I told Marissa. I could see her get hesitant, but I wasn't in the mood to deal with that. "I'm fine, I promise. I'm literally with you and I'm not going to over do it. I'm just so stressed out."
"Don't get snippy with me, Lovato." Marissa laughed. "You can do what you want. And I also won't let you go overboard."
I smiled at her and we both ordered a margarita. I've been texting Grace's phone since we hung up, just giving her random updates.
"Demi: I just want to let you know that I'm going to have a few drinks. I promise I'm not going to over do it."
I put my phone down and continued conversation with Marissa, both munching of us on our appetizers. I heard my phone vibrate and I picked it up and to my surprise, it was Grace.
"Graz: I literally can't sleep without you. I keep tossing and turning."
"Demi: Baby! Hi"
"Graz: Hi! Thank you for letting me know that you're having a drink. Just be safe and have a fun time."
"Demi: I promise I will. Are you okay?"
"Graz: I just can't sleep. I feel so empty without you by my side. I miss you so much to the point that I can't stop crying right now. I feel pathetic."
I felt my heart drop at her text, feeling awful that I couldn't be there for her.
"Grace is having a hard time without me. She said she can't sleep and now she can't stop crying." I told Marissa.
"You guys are so in love it's sick." Marissa laughed. "When can you see her?"
"I'm supposed to be going to Michigan in a week. I don't think I'll last that long though."
"Why a week?"
"I just have so much to catch up on."
"I feel like you did a weeks worth of work just today. I honestly feel like you can work another long day tomorrow and head there, even if it's just for a few days. Do you want me to check flights for you or ask your pilot if he can fly to Michigan?"
"Yes." I answered so fast, not even fully thinking it through.
"Demi: I wish I could be there more than anything. I miss you so much and I'm dreading going back home alone. I love you, sweetheart."
"There's available flights and your pilot also responded that he has a runway that goes right into Detroit. You can do either."
"Do you think I should?"
"Yes, I do. I think you should get up early and bust ass, and leave here around 7 or 8. You'll get there very late, but you for sure should go."
I stayed silent for a minute, thinking.
"Demi, you've never met someone like this or experienced a love like this before. You deserve to break free from working yourself to death and enjoy being with her. You are allowed to put yourself first." Marissa said to me as she put her hand on mine. I let out a big sigh, looking at her.
"You're completely right. My whole life has been work work work so I guess it's scary detaching from it. But you're right, I do deserve it, and I miss her so much. I just want to be with her."
I checked my phone again, and there was no response from Grace, so she must've fell asleep.
Marissa and I ate our dinner, and called it an early night. I planned to get up super early and get things done so I could leave earlier. I was going to try to surprise Grace.
