Hey before I start I just wanna break some stuff down, obviously in this universe covid exists but it's gonna be not as extreme with restrictions and stuff like that. I'm not really going to talk much about it or talk about masks or numbers or say things like social distancing bc frankly after the last 2 years I'm exhausted and the topic has started giving me really bad anxiety. Just know that they're following whatever is happening in North Carolina at that time (the first chapter is in early January 2020 and the second takes place in February 2021 and just carries on from there), I'm also from Canada so I have no idea what was happening there at any given moment and I feel like it's a lot of work for no reason to find all that out. That being said I'm not anti any of the stuff to do with it, that's not the reason and whatever your beliefs on the topic are please either don't discuss them in my comments (I hate politics) or if it comes up and you're making a casual comment be respectful of others or I'll have no other choice but to delete the comment and depending on the severity, block you and I hate doing that. That all being said and out of the way please enjoy the story!

Hey, my name is Danielle but you can just call me Dani, I feel like it just suits me better you know? Anyways I was born and raised in north Carolina by my parents until I turned 8 when my dad died in a trucking accident. My dad and I had always been really close whereas my other siblings Mike and Isabella were always closer with my mom. I took it really hard as anyone would and over the next few years I developed a lot of mental health problems. One of the biggest things that helped me was youtube so when I got a job as an editor for Mr. Beast last year it was huge for me. There I met a lot of amazing people but my favorite was probably Karl, over the last year he's become one of my closest friends and I don't know what I'd do without him. Anyways I feel like that's enough about me for now, I'm sure you'll learn more throughout the story; enjoy.

"no Sierra, I don't think you understand, when I say I'm nervous I don't mean 'my hands are kinda shakey' regular nervous I mean I'm going to throw up all over my car nervous." I said tapping on my steering wheel impatiently while sitting at the world longest red light, or at least it felt that way anyways. "Dani you're going to be fine. You are an amazing editor and Jimmy said that he loved you in your interview, you are going to fit in well with the whole group and you're going to do great so stop worrying so much; you're making yourself sick for nothing." Sierra chuckled, her voice coming through morphed by the speaker in my car but her laugh still managed to calm my nerves.

Sierra has been my best friend since we were 10 and once we turned 18 we moved into an apartment together. While I went to school for video editing she started working for her parents restaurant with the promise that she'd inherit it when they died and just 2 years later she's already an assistant manager. "okay okay, you're right I'm worrying for nothing." I breathed in and out slowly as I pulled up to the building and into a parking stop, "how are things at the restaurant today?" I asked, putting my car in park and glancing at the clock, I'm 15 minutes early. "it's pretty busy and we had a call in so I'm staying a few hours later but I'll still be home by 7 with dinner, ready to hear all about your first day as an editor for THE Mr.Beast." she said and I could hear the smile in her voice. I smiled to myself, saying a quick goodbye with the promise to see her later before hanging up.

I sat for a few more minutes in my car, making sure I had everything I needed before reapplying my lipstick and grabbing my purse and coffee. I walked into the building and up to a sort of reception area. "hi, I'm Danielle Harlow, I'm coming in for my first day as editor and was told to come here and get an ID?" I said trying to sound confident but with my anxiety at an all time high it came out as more of a question. "Yes, Danielle, Jimmy told me you'd be here at 9, it's nice to meet you. I'm Christina, I'm head receptionist so if you ever need anything just come down here and let me know. If you come this way we'll get you to security and get you an ID so you can be on your way." Christina came around the front of the desk, shaking my hand with a smile before walking with me down the hall to a door mark's security.

She knocked and withing seconds a tall man with dark hair and even darker eyes opened the door. His lips tugged into a small smile before he spoke, "Hey Chris, what can I do for you?" he asked, "this here is Danielle, it's her first day and we have to get her an ID." she told him with a polite smile. He took my drivers license into the office, telling me to go to the computer and fill out any questions that popped up before bringing me back over to take my picture. The process took about 5 minutes and before I knew it I was walking back towards the front desk with my new ID hung around my neck. "okay, here is the key do your editing bay, every other door that has a scanner should be able to be accessed by tapping your ID, you might have to tap it a few times but after that if it doesn't work just let security know and he'll grant you access."

"When you get past the doors turn left and walk all the way to the end of the hall. The video meeting is about to start and Jimmy wanted you to sit in so you better hurry." she said with a chuckle before handing me a key loop with 2 keys, one for the editing bay door and the other for what I'm assuming is my desk. "Thank you so much Christina, I'll see you later." I said with a smile before turning and walking towards a set of doors beside the desk. I tapped my ID on the scanner and thankfully it flashed green, allowing me into the office. Stepping in there was surreal to say the least. I'd been watching Mr. Beast for a few years now so being in the office is a dream come true. I turned left and walked all the way to the end of the hall.

On the way there I passed 2 different doors labeled Editing bay 1 and 2 and I assumed one was for main channel and the other was for gaming videos, I wonder which one I'll be working on. I stopped in front of the door, taking a deep breath and adjusting my shirt before finally pushing the door open and stepping into the room. My nerves almost instantly disappeared as I saw there were only maybe 20 people in there, most of which were talking and laughing amongst themselves. I've had one too many jobs where everyone is stuffy and serious so I'm excited to be surrounded by people who match my personality. I scanned the room for Jimmy and by the time my eyes landed on him, his seemed to land on me as well and he stood from his chair. "Danielle, I'm glad you made is on time, we were just about to start." he said walking over to me and taking my extended hand to shake.

"thanks, I'm so excited to be here, by the way you can just call me Dani, Danielle sounds so official." I smiled up at him before he guided me to the front of the room, "everyone, this is Dani our new editor. She's joining us today for this meeting as it's going to be her first assignment and I want her to see the whole process of making a video." he motioned for me after saying my name to which I waved to everyone, most of which smiled or waved back. "why don't you go take a seat beside Karl." he said, motioning for a young blonde man at the far left side of the table. I nodded, pulling my purse tighter around my shoulder and made my way over to my seat. I sat down, placing my coffee on the table and my purse at my feet, taking out a note pad and pen to take any editing notes if they were to come up though I doubt it.

"I'm karl, it's nice to meet you" the boy beside me said, extending a hand to me with a smile. I will say, he's quite cute. From up close I could see that his hair isn't naturally blonde, his brown roots poked through his headband and underneath it sat the most beautiful eyes and a kind smile. I took his hand graciously and shook it, "I'm Dani." I said simply, returning the smile. My knee must've been shaking, causing him to look down at it with a chuckle. "hey, it's my first video too, well I'm actually filming my first challenge video tomorrow so I get it. I was actually a director and editor before this." he told me and I nodded along, I knew he looked familiar from somewhere, he'd definitely popped up in the background of different videos before and all the pieces just connected.

"I knew you looked kind of familiar, well thank you for the words of encouragement, I really needed them." I chuckled nervous, placing a hand on my bouncing leg which thankfully caused it to stop, "Any time Dani." he said back before Jimmy began to talk, "welcome back everyone, I hope everyone had a great holiday vacation. I hope everyone ready to work, we're going to make 2020 our best year yet. Now, this week we're going to be doing a boy scout challenge so props were going to need tents, fire wood, were going to have to call and confirm with the summer camp today..." we went on talking about things we'd need and what we were doing, giving random people occasionally notes and the whole time I couldn't wipe the stupid smile off my face, I can't believe I'm actually here.
