Chapter 8

"hey sorry we're late, I told Dani I'd set the alarm and I forgot so we rushed to get here. Did you start the meeting without us?" Karl rambled as we rushed into the conference room and took our seats. We had half an hour to get ready this morning so both of us looked disheveled and were starving since we didn't get a chance to eat. Everyone just sat there staring at us silently, "what's everyone looking at?" I broke the silence, looking around the room at each of them, "Uhh, have you checked your Instagram yet today Dan?" Chandler was the first to speak. My eyebrows scrunched together as Karl and I shared a look of confusion. "no, we woke up late, I didn't even think to check. Why?" I asked, pulling my phone out and connecting to the WiFi. I couldn't even open the app before my phone blew up with notifications. The endless dinging rang through the room making my heart flutter in anticipation.

I managed to get the volume off and once I opened Instagram my jaw dropped; 14,000+ new likes, 500+ new comments and over night I went from 800 followers to 20,000. Karl and I stared at my phone for a minute in shock before I slowly locked it and placed it face down on the desk. "that's Uhh... How did that happen?" I struggled to get the words out. "well it could've been from your stream yesterday." Karl suggested. "yeah, and the fact that we uploaded the buried alive video early this morning. People probably saw you and went to find your social media." Jimmy added from his seat at the head of the table. I nodded slowly as the reality of the situation set in. "I'll worry about that later, let's get started with the meeting." I smiled at Jimmy with a nod for him to talk. "okay, this week we're shooting the extreme tag video, karl, sapnap is flying in tomorrow right?" Jimmy asked and Karl nodded.

For the rest of the meeting I didn't pay much attention as I was too excited to look at my phone. Once the meeting was finished I ran back to my office with Karl on my tail. The second we got to the office I slammed the room and turned to find him sitting on my chair. We looked at each other for a moment before we both started yelling in excitement, "20,000 followers in one day?! That's unheard of!" he exclaimed, extended his hand out to me. I yelping in surprise as he pulled me into his lap and wrapped his arms around my waist, burying his face in my shoulder as he laughed at and with me. "let's see what everyone's saying." I opened up the app before once again being met with that impressive notifications tab. I went to my recent post and laughed at the top thread. "listen to this one, 'is this the girl from the new Mrbeast video?', 'it's the girl that Karl streamed with yesterday', 'yeah I'm pretty sure they're the same person...', 'you know what, you're probably right'." I laughed after reading the thread out loud.

He eventually lifted his head off my shoulder and stared up at me. "I think you should make a post saying hi or something. Acknowledge them you know." he told me while I nodded vigorously. "Good idea, good idea. Okay, move your head so I can take a picture." I laughed, pulling up my hood and adjusting my hair before pushing him away from me by the forehead. I took a couple pictures from different angles then went through them until we decided on one. "okay, now what to say?" I thought out loud. I edited the picture and put it through to the final stage before posting. I stared at my phone for a few minutes, wracking my brain with something to say. Karl gave me a few suggestions but I didn't like any of them. They all just seemed disingenuous, no, this had to come from me and me alone. I eventually thought of something and showed karl, "yup, that looks good." he said before pressing the post button for me.
