My mind went pure crazy when she told me she could understand the conversation I had about her in German with the officer. On one hand I hoped that she would understand. On another note, the wind was blowing by and I could tell that as the sun was setting it was getting colder. Marion pushed her foot against the wing so she would push up against my chest more. "Are you alright?" I asked her. At that time the sun was near set. The sky was painted a bright orange color. There were hints of pink all throughout the clouds. I wrapped my arms around her because I already knew she was getting cold. "Of course, I'm all right." She said as she looked up at me. Her eyes reflected the sunset in them. I have to admit that she's gorgeous. "So, this could be our last day seeing each other for a while..." I said, but she then began to cry. "Shhh it's alright Marion." I let her rest her head against my shoulder. "I can't say goodbye Nick. I just can't. I don't want to go back to America. I want to live the German lifestyle. I love it here because I feel safe. Please don't let them send me back or take me away." I wiped her tears with my hand. She tucked her feet under her bottom so she was sitting on the bottom parts of her legs. She flipped herself around so she was facing me. "It's alright..." I softly kissed her on the forehead. "Will it be?" She asked, but I gave her a nod of reassurance. I pulled her face back towards mine when our lips met once again. I pulled her closer to me as we softly kissed each other. I held her back up and she placed her hands behind my shoulders. She laughed a little when her hands touched my soft hair. It was a minute, but when she backed away a little I could see she was crying. Marion buried her head in my shoulder. "Nick..." she cried.
The sun was near set when I heard some planes fly by. Soon I realized that they were Luftwaffe planes. "What?" I said in a very passive voice. I just held her there until she unburied her head and smiled. "Remember how you said that I'm the problem? Well, you're the problem for me. I've never... liked... loved someone before." She smiled at the word love as she rapidly corrected herself. "I know it's so soon, but we never know when... we will die." Her eyes welled with tears. I truly felt bad for her, but that's the truth. This could be our final moment together.
The last word I got regarding the war was this morning from the colonel. I got word that America is about to go down. The issue with this new war waging here overseas is the fact that Russia, China, and North Korea are all teaming together. They don't want people to know that that's the pure fact, so they hide all foreign relations with one another. They've determined that they could either go to Poland, Japan, or the United States. They already tried to get Ukraine, but it hasn't worked in their favor yet. I'd love to get into the US to find out what they are doing. I know what Germany is doing because I've snuck in and stolen papers from the major's desk.
"That's true, but I'm determined to get us both out of here alive." I told her as I brushed my hand through her hair. "We're both pilots and we understand each other. Please just listen to me Marion, whatever happens I swear I will come back for you. Do you by chance know how to get into the pentagon?" I thought it would be worth a shot to ask her. She flinched in pain because my arm accidentally bumped her stomach. I quickly apologized to her. "The pentagon, huh? That's a little bit of a weird request. That's one of the most secure buildings in America." Marion smiled -almost as if she had an answer. "I may or may not know someone. She's always had my back, so she will this time too. She's the only person in the government that I can trust. Her name is Kambrie Cox. Kambrie has always bailed me out no matter what it was. She's the only reason why I'm not dead yet." She laughed a little probably because of the thought. I began to speak again, "so she can get you in?" She gave a simple yes nod with a little hesitation. "I have to go back to America." She said with a very worried expression.
Just then our conversation was cut off. There were foreign planes that flew over. "Marion, we have to leave right now! I'm so sorry." I said as she quickly jumped up and nearly got into the cockpit, but I stopped her. "Marion, wait..." I pulled her close and gave her one last kiss -as long as we could. It lasted about four seconds before she pulled away and got into her plane. "I'm not going to America just yet, but if they deploy me back..." I just nodded my head and got into my plane.
Takeoff was fighting the wind... harder than ever before... would this mean death? For me? For her?
