I turned the corner and was met with a woman that I've known since I was a child. "Ahh, Marion. How's the deployment?" She said in a snippy voice that immediately angered me. Delaina wore nice dress pants and a tight white shirt with a ceylon colored cardigan. The ceylon colored sweater complimented her gray eyes. She was always the popular girl of the class. How we ended up as friends I have no idea. She hasn't always been the nicest to me though. I looked around and displayed my classic 'professional' smile. I began to say, "well, that's the way I was expecting to be welcomed back into my home country. It was great."
Her classic look of disgust was displayed across her face. "I'm sorry Marion, I didn't want to come across like that. Did you meet someone?" She asked and I immediately knew I had to give her the truth. However, I needed to keep out the part of kissing Nick. "Yes I did and he may be able to get into the German government. He knows their secrets and we have a plan. Please, Delaina, we need some information about the foresight affairs." I begged her and she seemed intrigued. Delaina stared off into the distance as she said, "Kambrie is not available right now."
It was no use at this point. Delaina walked away and I went to the telephone to call Kambrie. Nothing worked, they shut down all communications. I turned around and was met with two beady eyes. They looked familiar. "Hey Lieutenant Wright." The man said. I had a facepalm moment when I realized who it was. "I know Marion, you most likely don't want to talk to me." It was Lieutenant Oscar from the barracks when I was In Basic Military Training for a week and a half. "You're going back to Germany." He said. "Right now." After he turned and walked away I traveled to my locker to retrieve my flight bag.
There were officers running all over the place trying to gather their stuff and say their last goodbyes. It really hurts to see other people in pain. When I turned the corner I noticed the colonel's office open. My eyes looked around to make sure no one was coming. Lo and behold no one was coming. There was a stack of papers inches high on his desk. The first two I picked up were just about signed contracts. As I quickly dug deeper I soon noticed that the papers were about the experiments that they were doing. Many people talked about the experiments, but I did not know they were that bad. I took photos with my phone, which sat In my inside jacket pocket. I just took photos of the remaining papers and decided I would read them later.
After leaving I got in my plane and remembered Nick and how he kissed me. For a second I forgot everything as soon as my engines fired up. It feels so good to hear that. It peaks the fine hairs that run down my spine. The pain from my stomach began to creep down into my legs. Sitting in the cockpit made me antsy and maybe a little bit ill. I just wanted to stand up so I could attempt to shake off the pain. Soon enough I was airborne. It was too late. The pain was excruciating -almost like hot knives going into my skin. "Mayday!" I heard a deep male voice scream over the frequency. I realized who it was after he mentioned his callsign. I personally did not know him, but it still hit me hard.
