My legs were limp and I could not walk for a brief moment. It was hard to speak because of yelling over the frequency. It was a ghost town -there was no one around to help me. I used my arms to crawl over to the hangar. After about 20 minutes I made it there. When I was able to sit down on the bench I felt a sigh of relief. For a moment I closed my eyes and went to sleep.

The soft call of the morning birds always woke me up at around 6:30 in the morning. It took me a second to adjust to the blinding light that came through. "Hallo, Nick. Was machst du heute? Whoever was flying that enemy plane was darn good. He knew how that plane moved. Just from seeing it I knew it was a Mig-28. He shot down one of the German pilots. "Nein! Auf Wiedersehen und Dankeschön Für alles!" The poor pilot's voice shook. I had to block out the thought of him and focus on what I was doing. There was a deeper voice within my head that just screamed there was something going on.

My plane twisted around in perfect aerobatics....
