Get through Senior year. That's all I needed to do then I would finally be able to get out of Oklahoma.
Head down and keep quiet. That's all I had to do and I would survive. That was my strategy.
Until I caught the attention of the wrong person.

Blaze: You ready for the game?
Blaze's name pops up on my phone and before I could reach it, Jules reaches over and changes the station of my radio.
"Stop touching my radio." I glare at her, my fingers flexing around my steering wheel to my dodge.
Sadly, Adrian had stayed after school and I was stuck with taking Jules home. I loved my sister dearly but she got on my fucking nerves. Especially the times she gets in my car and acts as if she owns it.
"No," She scoffs. "I'm glad you love football, big brother, but I don't want to listen to these men talk about people I don't know nor care about. It makes me sleepy."
I frowned at her words. "When you are in my car, you listen to whatever I am listening to."
She rolls her eyes, leaning back in the seat with crossed arms. "Just wait until the day you have to sit in my car. I will purposefully play kiddy music just to get on your nerves."
I stopped at the red light and chose that moment to ignore her and peek at my phone. Quickly reading the message from Blaze, I place the phone back and decided to check it later since I was not in the car by myself. I wasn't big on the no texting in driving but things changed once Jules would be in the car.
"So, your final game is coming up in a week." Jules says and I shrug, not seeing her point.
Yeah, the little games we've been playing were nothing special but this one was a big one. It was the end of the season and a final chance. More scouts were going to be in the bleachers and I was still hopeful that I was going to get a scholarship from one of them.
Even though I talked to a few of them, there was a specific place that I really wanted to go to and really have a chance. I didn't know where but I wanted out of Oklahoma. Anywhere but here was best for me right now.
"Mercer?"
I sigh, "What Jules?"
"Are you going to ask Geneievee to go?" She questions, taking me off guard.
