Get through Senior year. That's all I needed to do then I would finally be able to get out of Oklahoma.
Head down and keep quiet. That's all I had to do and I would survive. That was my strategy.
Until I caught the attention of the wrong person.

Mercer Petrov is the most confusing person I've ever met.
He was horrible to me, disrespecting me in front of his friends and then telling me to leave him alone. Then, he is nice to me later that night, sending me messages.
It's confusing and I didn't have time for it. I blocked him, no longer caring. I gave him chances and he's run out of them. I'm not going to continue giving myself a headache just to be slapped in the face by his heartlessness.
Pulling into my usual parking spot, I got out with my belongings. The trip to my locker didn't take long. After turning the lock, using the three numbers that were the code, I pulled it open. Grabbing onto the needed books, the impulsive sound of laughter gained my attention.
"Who would join this trashy club? It's not even interesting." A girl tosses a piece of paper onto the floor.
It was that one girl that always clung to Mercer. I think her name was Tyra.
Looking closer, she was taunting some girl that was holding her ground. Her blond hair was pulled back into a tight bun on top of her head except for a few strands. She had on make-up but it was very little. The look complemented her pale skin tone. She was dressed in a denim jacket with black shorts that stopped mid-thigh. She looked familiar but I couldn't recall her name.
"You don't have to be rude about it, Tyra." She huffs, bending down to pick up the paper.
"Whatever," Tyra rolls her eyes. "Stay away from our section and we won't have any problems."
"You don't own the school."
"No, but I do have connections." Her tone was threatening. "So, be a smart girl, Skylar, and stay away." She glares a final time before she turns to walk away. But not before bumping past her causing everything in her hands to fall out of her hands onto the floor.
Snickering, she walked off with her arrogant friends down the hall.
Shaking my head, I closed my locker and made my way over to her. "Are you okay?"
The girl sighs. "Yeah, I'm used to it."
I bent down and helped her with her belongings. "You shouldn't be. Girls like her always love to extend some kind of authority when in truth, it will only get them so far in life."
