The day after Thanksgiving, mom decided to drop me back off and I used the key to get inside my dad's house. Met with instant silence and darkness, I reach over for the light. Closing and locking the door behind me, I made my way to the kitchen to wash my hands and grab a bottle of water.

It was an okay day and spending Thanksgiving with my mother wasn't bad. I got to know a little more about William and what he does. Apparently, he has two kids of his own but they were much younger than me. Two girls, one nine and ten if I remembered correctly. They were precious in the photos he'd showed me and the more he talked about them, the more I began to realize that those little girls were everything to him.

Mom told me how she met them on a few occasions and thought it would be a good time to meet them someday myself. Someday would be nice.

Sighing, I entered the kitchen, turning on the light only to find a note with my name on it. Picking it up, I instantly recognize my father's handwriting.

Will be out with Shanice for the next few days. After, we need to talk and reevaluate. I love you, sweetheart.
~Dad.

Honestly, it would have been nice if he called me and told me this instead of writing. I closed the note back and walked to the fridge to grab the water bottle. Cutting off the light, I head up the stairs to my bedroom to get in the shower.

My phone buzzed and I take it out of my back pocket.

Carson: Hey, Gen.
Carson: How was your Thanksgiving?

Did he not realize how late it was?

I sighed, shutting off my phone. Carson was beginning to give me strange vibes. He's been texting me every day, asking me how I've been and I've been debating in my mind that I should block him. Instead, I don't respond to any of his messages or questions about something that didn't have anything to do with him.

It makes me think back to the day Mercer and I were told that we were getting suspended. Carson was smirking at Mercer, baiting him. For what, I did not know. But deep down I felt like it was nothing good.
