Wednesday November 26, 7:34am

I woke up and packed my bag to get ready for our flight. This was not the day dat I wanted to be here. I wasn't suppose to be here in the first place. I looked down at Promise sleeping and this is the longest she slept in a while. I didn't want to wake her up but I gotta get outta hea.

"Ma ma wake up we gotta get to the airport" I shook her awake and she slowly opened her eyes

"Babe can we please do another flight later on today?" I shook my head.

"No we gotta go right na. Ain no otha flights today"

"Please baby. I'm tired" she pulled the covers over her head.

I shook my head and got up and went downstairs. I seen chay in the living room watching tv.

"Whatchu doin up this early?" I sat next to her and she never took her eyes off the tv

"I can never sleep on this day. You would know if you were here" I looked at her as she eyes started glistening.

Chay was old enough to know what happened to Malcom. But Kay and Maya is too young to understand that they would never see they father again. Especially Kay, Chandra was pregnant with her when he passed.

"I'm sorry Chay. But I couldn't be here"

"You're not the only one hurting Uncle Aug. he was my dad" tears streamed down her face and I hugged her but she pushed my off and ran upstairs.

"Don't worry about it Anthony, she's sensitive on this day" mama said coming out the kitchen.

I ran my hands down my face and got up, about to head upstairs but Chandra came down.

"Hey" she smiled.

"Wassup sis" I sighed

"Chandra baby would you get me some more flowers for my vase?" Mama asked. She nodded and grabbed her keys off counter

"You wanna ride with me?" She pointed towards the door and I shook my head

"Uh naw ion really feel like goin no where today"

"Come on I won't take no for an answer" she walked to the door as I stood here. She looked back at me and I sighed and hesitantly walked to the car with her.

She started driving and it was silent.

"How you feeling today?" She glanced over at me then back at the road.

"I'm good" I nodded

"Really August? How are you really?" I looked over at her.

"I should be askin you that" she smiled but it faded as she shook her head

"Every year it gets harder but I'm taking it one day at a time" she said pulling up to a flower shop.

"Come on"

I got out the car and followed behind her as she walked in the shop. She started looking around at the flowers and I just looked at her. I looked down at my phone and seen Promise location off. I scrunched my face but put it back in my pocket.
