After Luffy's battle with Kaido he is attacked by one of the CP9 members which sends him to another world. He lands in the world of Remnant where he walks around and explores a little until he meets Ozpin who gives him a new start in this world.

Luffy and his friends are seen in Ms. Glynda's class as they are staring at Luffy and Pyrrha fighting team CDRL as they are destroying them completely with Pyrrha striking them as Luffy comes in as support and making sure that they stay down. Pyrrha goes against Cardin as she attacks him in the air and grabs him from the head slamming him down onto the ground as Cardin groans in pain
Glynda: That's the match.
Cardin: Lucky hit.
He falls unconscious and lays onto the ground
Glynda: Good job you two, with this I believe your more than capable the tournament
Luffy: Shishi. That was fun Pyrrha.
Pyrrha: It was a little fun not fighting all alone.
Glynda looks at her scroll figuring that one more match is still able to go
Glynda: We have time for one more match.
Mercury: I'll go!
They look at a guy with grayish hair smirking
Glynda: Mercury is it? Very well let me find you an opponent.
Mercury: Actually I want to fight him.
He points at Luffy who is seen talking with Pyrrha about her cool weapons who is smiling in response to him
Glynda: I don't recommend that. Luffy is a special case in strength.
Luffy: Nah it's ok! Plus he looks strong.
Mercury jumps into the arena as they both stare at each other. Luffy not wanting to waste time starts his attack as he runs at him as Mercury jumps up into the air and launches himself from the wall going to kick him

Luffy inflates himself into a giant balloon that makes Mercury fly back as his hit is repelled
Luffy: Hehe.
Mercury gets up as he runs at Luffy and starts to unleash a multiple number of strong kicks but Luffy uses his Haki as he dodges all his attacks. Luffy throws his hand back making it spin as he dashes at Mercury
