By the time Dean had woken up, Castiel was already gone. Dean rolled over onto his stomach and stuck his face in the pillows. He could still smell the minty scent that Cas left behind.

Dean remembered the day he told Castiel he needed to act more human for them to live in the quiet neighborhood they had wanted to move to. Castiel had agreed and they had gone to the store to buy Cas his own soaps and brushes.

"Okay, Cas. Pick out a scent you like and we can get it for you," Dean walked over to the male body washes, popped open one of the caps, and sniffed the soap. "This one's good," he flipped the bottle over and read the label. "Mmm...cedar. what do you think?"

Castiel was already in the next aisle. Dean poked his head around the shelf and watched as Castiel ripped off the tops and deeply inhaled the selection of deodorants the store had on display. Dean tucked back in the body wash aisle and laughed as silently as he could.

After collecting himself, Dean walked over to Cas and asked him if he needed help. "I think I can handle myself. Why don't you go buy some more paper towels while I pick out a soap?" Dean scribbled a quick list of everything Castiel needed and tucked it in Cas's pocket before kissing him lightly on the cheek and walking towards the paper products.

Cas scanned the list and found something he hadn't looked at yet: toothpaste.

When Dean came back Castiel had a small basket full of mint toothpaste, body wash, shampoo, deodorant, mouthwash, and even shaving cream. Dean stifled a laugh and asked if Cas was ready to go home.

The memory made Dean chuckle and roll over onto his back. Tucking his hands behind his head, Dean remembered how much Cas meant to him and how he obviously didn't mean to upset him the previous night. Dean rolled out of bed and jogged into the kitchen to find Castiel at the stove.

Cas didn't notice Dean's appearance and went to the fridge to get more eggs for the omelets he was making. Dean snuck up behind Cas and kissed him on the back of his neck. "Good morning," Dean whispered.

"Good morning, Dean. How are you doing?"

"I'm..I'm really great Cas," Dean sniffed the lock of Cas's hair that hung behind his ear. "Did you, um, wanna finish what we were talking about last night?"

Turning around, Castiel replied, "Yes, Dean. I would like that a lot. I have reconsidered my actions of last night and I believe that whatever you would like to do is okay. Even adoption."

"Really? Wow, Cas. That's...that's great. Are you sure?"

"I'm positive."

Castiel was hoping that Dean would choose to have a baby with a consenting woman. The truth was, Cas wanted their child to remind them of each other. He knew in the perfect world, the baby would have features of both of them, and he would see Dean and Dean would see him.

But that was not going to happen. Excitedly, Dean embraced Castiel and whispered, "Thank you..." before grabbing his coat and running out the door.

Cas ran after him. But by the time he reached the front door, the Impala had already pulled out of the driveway and was careening out of the pleasant neighborhood.

Castiel closed the door and went back to the kitchen where he ate two servings of eggs.
