Cas had finally forgiven Dean the next Tuesday and offered to have Cassidy come by at a later time so both of them could see the pictures at the same time.

Cas hung the images up around the house in frames that said things like "little baby" and "daddy's boy". The image that had been used to determine the baby's sex was on the fridge with a red circle and words in deans handwriting reading "PENIS" and a smiley face in red marker.

The following Saturday when Cas and Dean both had work off, they climbed into the Impala and drove to the nearest Home Depot. They picked out the shade of green Castiel had chosen and purchased two gallons of paint and a bunch of rollers and brushes.

Then they went to Walmart where they searched for furniture for the nursery.

"Which color do you prefer?" Cas asked. "White or oak?"

Dean walked over and examined the wooden cribs Castiel was looking at.

"The dark oak looks pretty good with the paint color," Dean pointed out.

"I agree. Let's get the dark oak and then we can get the matching dresser."

They bought the crib and dresser but also a highchair, car seat, crib sheets, and wall decals that looked like monkeys. Castiel had chosen a small stuffed monkey to match the walls which made Dean jokingly add a plush angel into the cart.

It was good for the couple to see each other smiling again. They grabbed a few other things for the nursery on their way out.

Dean drove home with Castiel in the passenger seat and a variety of boxes and bags in the trunk and backseat. There were a few things that were too big to fit in the Impala so Sam said he would pick them up for Cas and Dean.

When the couple got home they got straight to work and began painting the nursery walls. Cas was sure to remove his trench coat so he would not get any paint on the beige fabric.

They had a great time painting. Dean would watch as Castiel focused and used a small brush to paint the edges of the windows and doors. And Cas admired how Dean would effortlessly streak the paint across the walls.

After they had finished the first wall, there was a knock at the door. Cas heard the door open and Sam's voice called out, "Hey, guys! I've got the furniture you asked me to pick up."

"Come one in, Sammy. We're upstairs in the nursery," Dean called down.

Sam walked in a few minutes later and looked at the wall Cas and Dean had just finished painting. "Looks good, guys. The baby's gonna love it."

"Thanks. Mind helping us with the next wall?" Dean asked.

Sam helped them paint the entire room. After they finished, Sam looked out the nursery window and saw a purple sky. The orange bulb that was the sun caressed the horizon through a tangle of tree branches, making the old tree seem to glow.

"That tree," Sam said. "It looks familiar."

"What tree?" Asked Dean, approaching the window.

"The one right outside. You get a perfect view of it from here."

"Yeah. You do get a perfect view," replied Dean, who began reminiscing about the old tree that used to stand outside his window.
