A few months later, Cassidy called Cas and Dean to tell them at her next appointment they should be able to tell the sex of the baby. The boys made sure they didn't have anything scheduled the day of the appointment and begun making plans.

"Once we find out the sex," Castiel said, browsing a baby store catalog. "we can begin purchasing clothes and furniture for the nursery."

"Yeah," agreed Dean. "I think we should put the nursery in that room on the corner, where we've been keeping the guest room."

"I think that would be okay. And then we can move the guest room to the spare room you've filled with junk. you're going to have to clean that out."

"Alright. I'll do it as soon as we get back from Cassidy's appointment."

On the day of the appointment Dean started up the Impala and waited for Cas to get in. They buckled their seat belts and made their way to the appointment.

"Hey, Cassidy," greeted Dean as they saw the pregnant woman walking in.

"Hi, guys," she replied. "Ready to find out if we're having a boy or a girl?"

"Absolutely," added Castiel. The trio walked into the office and waited for the nurse to call them in. At the sonogram machine, Dean and Cas waited anxiously, holding hands for support.

"Everything's looking good," the nurse said.

"But what about--" Cas started.

"Wait, Cas," Dean scolded.

"Something wrong?" The nurse asked.

"Well," started Cassidy. "At my last appointment they said you could probably determine the sex of the baby today."

"Of course, honey. I've been looking, but this little guy--"

"So it's a boy?" Interrupted Castiel.

"That's the thing, sweetie. I can't tell what it is. The little thing," she explained, emphasizing the word 'thing'. "Won't show me its reproductive organs so I just can't tell."

Cas was disappointed by the statement and sat down in one of the chairs. Cassidy was cleaned up and everybody left the room and the building.

"It's okay, Castiel," soothed Cassidy. "Maybe we'll find out next time."

"Maybe," said Castiel, retreating to the Impala.

"Sorry about that," said Dean. "He gets kinda rude when he's upset. Almost like I'll be taking care of two babies." He laughed.

"That's sweet. You two are so cute together. If you don't mind me asking, when did you meet?"

Dean flashed back to the many years ago, when Castiel introduced himself. Castiel had revealed his true form and said "I'm the one who gripped you tight and raised you from perdition."

"He, uh, got me outta a tight spot a few years back," Dean responded.

"Have you been together since?"

"You could say that."

"Interesting. I want you to know that I'm really glad to do this for you. It's not a burden on me. I hope it's not too stressful for you."

"You can probably imagine what it's like for Cas. He's been taking this whole thing pretty hard. He just wants a baby now."

"That's probably the hardest thing for most people. The waiting..."

"So, would you maybe like to come to our house sometime? We could hangout, drink beer, you could meet my brother."

Cassidy looked down at her stomach and back at Dean.

"Right, we'll get you some milk or something."

"You know, I'd love to visit sometime. I was reading that it's important to have a good relationship with the family you're 'working' with." She made air quotes when she said working with her fingers.

"Sure thing. Just text me sometime when you're available. I know my brother and his girlfriend want to meet you."

"Okay. I'll text you."

"Alright. See you then," Dean did a two-fingered salute while Cassidy waved eagerly.

Cas was waiting in the passenger seat when Dean sat down and buckled his seat belt.

"You don't have feelings for Cassidy, do you, Dean?"
