Damian couldn't stop pondering over his encounter with Akai Shi. Of all the opponents he had faced, including the best of the League of Assassins, including his own grandfather, he had never faced someone as skilled as him.
Akai Shi was simply levels beyond Damian's skill. He doubts that Batman could beat him. He looked like he was just going to stand there. Next thing he knows is Akai Shi right in his face. It angered Damian.
He chose to bury that life in the past. He left it all behind him. He would only fight if one hundred percent necessary. It was only ever for his loved ones. Or loved one.
That's what Damian couldn't bare the thought of: what if he killed Raven. Damian would've been powerless to stop him. Akai Shi could've slit her throat and disappeared and Damian wouldn't even know until it was too late.
"Dami?" He heard Raven from the door, pulling him out of his thoughts.
He had a private doctor come over and look at his wounds. He concluded that Damian should get plenty of rest and not leave his bed for a while. Thank god school was over.
"Raven, are you alright? You want some tea? I'll get you some." Damian said attempting to get out of bed. He winced in pain and quickly retreated back into bed.
"Dami!" Raven ran over to him and laid him down. She stroked his hair and led down to his cheek. Damian leaned into her touch and smiled.
"You're good at that."
"Am I?"
"Mmm. It feels really nice."
"Good." Raven smiled.
"I don't like being a burden tho."
"You're not a burden. Love is taking care of each other as well you know. That's what I'm doing."
"I know. Thank you." Damian said after a contempt smile.
"You're welcome." Raven said still stroking him.
"You need to rest tho. You have deep cuts and two cracked ribs. Not to mention your-" Raven was cut off by Damian's lips against hers. She melted right into it and Damian simply smirked.
"You worry too much. I've had worse."
"That does not make me feel better."
"Sorry."
Raven laughed before her expression turned serious and concerned. Damian also went serious and pointed to one of his old books. He explained that he never finished it and it was about the League's history. Raven brought it to him and sat peering her head over his shoulder.
"Who are you? Akai Shi." Damian asked himself. He skimmed through the book until he found a sketch of Akai Shi. This book told history from over five hundred years and Akai Shi had four pages of information.
Damian went wide eyed while Raven simply watched. The book was written in a language she didn't understand but, she could tell from Damian's expression, this was serious.
"What does it say?"
"..."
"Damian?" Raven said with worry.
"He... he can't be stopped." Damian managed to say.
"What do you mean?"
"The League was comprised of the world's strongest and best assassins. Masters with the sword and other weapons... this Akai Shi was an outsider seeking a fight." Damian took a deep breath before continuing. Raven held her hand on his back, offering any comfort she could.
"He entered the League and cut down most assassins in seconds. He even fought my grandfather. Apparently he was satisfied when he beat him and denied him an honourable death, humiliating my grandfather." Damian explained. His eyes still wide. He couldn't believe it. That meant that Akai Shi didn't even try in their fight. It was humiliating.
Raven was also shocked. However, she saw Damian seething with anger and clenching his fists. She gently wrapped her fingers around his hand. She could feel the tension leave him and she pulled his head to her chest.
"Look, I'm no good at fighting and this guy is clearly a big deal. But, we can't do anything about him. We can just hope he won't come back. If he does we can try and get someone to help. Batman maybe, even he has to try." Raven said. She stroked his hair and looked down at him with sympathy.
Damian's face had softened. He knew no one could beat him but it was an idea. Even if there was basically no chance of success.
"Ok... yeah." Damian said with huff of breath.
"It'll be ok. Remember, we protect each other."
Damian kissed her with a huge amount of passion and encircled her in his arms. Raven responded with equal intensity and place her hands on his cheeks.
"I love you."
Raven laughed. He said it a lot. Not that she didn't though. "Oh I know. I love you too."
Things evolved into a long make out session. Unfortunately for them sex wasn't an option with Damian's injuries.
Akai Shi was out there. Unbeknownst to the lovebirds, however, the world's greatest detective was looking for him too. Definitely unprepared for what he was up against.
So yeah just wanted to say that this now has a self made character. Akai Shi means Red Death in Japanese and he is a former samurai who once killed most of the League once. Hope you'll like him 😂👍🏻
