She sat absentmindedly, unsure of what to do with herself. She had nothing to do. Damian's wounds were taking a little longer to heal than they expected, although his cuts were deep. School was over and she couldn't take her mind off him. She knew exactly why.
Don't get her wrong, Damian is always on her mind. She loves him more than anything. But, that comes with a terrifying prospect. The prospect of losing him. She could tell when they started becoming friends that he had this secret. She never wanted to pry because Damian treated her the same. They both had bad pasts, his more extreme with ninjas, hers was poverty and the filthy residents of Gotham.
She could tell from the fight that this had never happened to Damian before. Akai Shi was leagues above him and it frightened her. She hoped he would never have to fight anyone and she didn't get her wish.
She heard a thump from the bedroom and had a feeling that Damian was probably trying to get up. She had told him fifty times by now that he needed to stay in bed. What she heard from the room suggested otherwise.
"Titus, piss off! You miserable idiot!" Damian yelled. Titus had the quite unfortunate thing that everyone had: growing up. He had become much bigger in the time they had got him. He now stood proudly above his owner's knees. This didn't bode well for Damian, who was on bed rest.
Raven approached the room and upon entering, saw Titus on the floor looking sad and Damian looking like he had come out of another fight. It didn't help with what Raven was worried about.
"Titus, leave him be. Damian's in need of rest for a few more days." Raven said whilst scratching behind Titus's ear. The dog grew comfortable and accepted the situation.
"Thank you, Beloved." Damian said smiling.
God how she loved that smile, that face, that man. Damian felt the same about her. They were truly and irreversibly in love.
"No problem. Anything you need? Anything you want?"
"I want you to lay with me. Just cuddle and talk I guess." Raven smiled and nodded st the suggestion. She crawled on the bed up to him and lay beside him. Holding him where he wasn't hurt. She held tightly and quickly kissed his cheek. Damian noticed she did that a few times when something was wrong.
"What's on your mind, Raven? " Damian asked kindly.
She pondered her answer and sighed deeply before saying anything. She looked him in the eyes for a while and then laid her head on his.
"I don't like seeing you fight. I don't like the thought of you getting hurt... or worse."
"Raven..."
"No. Please let me finish." Damian simply nodded with wide eyes in surprise that she found it this hard.
"I don't know what would happen if you got into once and I couldn't help, or you can't beat them and I'm not there." Raven explained. Her voice becoming weaker as she threw herself into his arms. Damian held all the pain back. This was important to her. So instead he pulled her in composed where he caressed her cheek.
"Raven... that was one time. He was a skilled fighter and I don't want to fight anyone. All I want is to live with you. To have a life with you." Damian responded. He was glad to see her care so much but, he didn't like seeing her on the verge of tears.
"I don't want you to go, I don't want you to die." Raven muttered.
" I won't, my love."
"Promise me you won't. What will I do without you? Nothing is the answer. Because I'd want to be with you so bad." Raven confessed.
Damian could feel his own tears swell up and he pulled Raven closer after giving her a needed and loving kiss.
"I promise. Nothing will take me away from you." With that Raven smiled as she kissed him and laid next to him. They confessed their love for each other again before sleeping and cuddling like the world didn't exist anymore.
It was so peaceful.
Just gonna pass out from tiredness and exhaustion 😂.
