She couldn't see very well until the warm, salty tears finally cleared her vision, revealing the owner of that cheerful voice—a man with white hair, dressed in black, wearing a blindfold.
Is he a blind old man, or am I hallucinating from agony...?
Actually... both.
She tried to answer him, but the only sound she could muster was a fit of coughing. Her throat was too choked up to speak.
"It seems so!" he teased, his tone lighthearted—like she was nothing more than a half-dead, annoying bee. Then, without warning, he dropped her hand, letting it fall limply onto the grass before shoving his own hands into his pockets. He stood there watching her struggle, then, to her disbelief, pulled out his phone and took a picture.
Seriously... Am I some kind of TV show?
She weakly placed one hand over her chest, the other wrapping around her throat, hoping he'd be smart enough to understand the sign.
Can he even see me?
"Don't worry—you'll almost die!" he reassured her with a grin, completely failing at offering any comfort. He crouched down, bringing himself to her level, then placed a hand against her burning neck.
"Too bad~ you're on fire!" he said, amused. "What's that?"
His gaze locked onto the pure white stone hanging from a delicate chain around her neck.
She barely paid attention to him. To her, it was just an old necklace—a gift from her grandmother, given to her long ago. But as that memory flickered through her mind, a faint glimmer of life returned to her drained face.
The moment he touched the stone, however, something shifted. He lifted his head, his expression suddenly serious, suspicion darkening his features.
Without hesitation, he yanked the necklace off, snapping the chain. His piercing stare never left her face, not even as he tossed it aside like worthless junk.
"This is for humans," he muttered, his voice devoid of playfulness. His carefree demeanor vanished, replaced by something colder, something... different.
Y/N's eyes widened. What the hell...?
"Give it back," she growled, glaring daggers at him.
"Oya! That was scary." He smirked, unfazed. Instead of stepping away, he leaned in.
She instinctively recoiled, pressing herself against the tree.
"What's wrong with you!?" she snapped, stupefied by his bizarre behavior.
"Feeling much better now, right~?" he said, completely ignoring her question.
Her breath caught. The crushing weight in her chest had lessened, the feverish heat subsided. She could breathe.
A rush of thoughts stormed her mind.
Was it always the necklace? Did Grandma know? Don't tell me... No! I was able to live a normal life because of it...
"What just happened to me?" she asked, unsure if he'd even give her a serious answer.
She fired more questions, desperation creeping into her voice.
"How did you know my necklace was the problem? More importantly, who the hell are you? Can you even see me with that stupid thing over your eyes?"
"Many questions for a soon-to-be dead girl," he mused. He stood up, staring down at her. Again, he spoke of her death like it was set in stone.
"I am Gojo Satoru—the strongest sorcerer in the world!" He raised a finger to his lips, flashing a smug grin. "My eyes are so pretty that I hide 'em~" He blew her a playful kiss.
