She hesitated. Her body craved more, but her mind clung to reason. This wasn't how she wanted things to go, not yet. His intense gaze pinned her in place, waiting for an answer she wasn't ready to give. Then, salvation—his phone buzzed. He exhaled sharply, clearly annoyed, but answered anyway.
She released a breath she didn't realize she was holding, sliding off the table as he spoke. "Nanami!! Glad u remember my birthday!"
Turning away, she touched the fresh hickey on her neck, heart still racing. This was dangerous. He was dangerous. And yet, she already knew—walking away from Gojo Satoru would never be that easy.
She tidied the kitchen, planning to train afterward. Just as she finished, Gojo returned.
"I have to go now. Be ready by the evening. Pack your things in the suitcase in my room—we're moving." No further explanation, no time for questions. He was gone as quickly as he arrived.
It took her a moment to process, but then she remembered—he had been looking for a new place ever since she activated her power. She did as he said, then left to train in the forest.
Then, she felt it.
That voice. That deep, cold voice. The one she feared and despised most.
"The aura around you..."
A wave of ice-cold dread crashed through her. That voice was something she had been running from her entire life, yet it always caught her. Always.
She was paralyzed, mind scrambling for options. No phone. No Gojo. Just her, alone, in an open forest.
Running was the only choice.
But before she could, a brutal yank on her hair sent her crashing to the hard ground. The impact stunned her, her vision spinning as a heavy boot slammed onto her stomach, pinning her down. Pain shot through her ribs as she gasped for air.
His dark, lifeless eyes bore down on her. The same expressionless face. The same monster she knew too well.
"Always obsessed with me, you b—"
His foot pressed harder, stealing the breath from her lungs. A throaty hush filled the cold air as the wind howled through the trees, sending his long black hair flying.
"Watch your mouth, foolish." His voice was void of warmth, void of anything.
She clawed at his foot, desperately trying to push it off.
"You've gotten stronger," he mused. "Did your strength awaken before time?"
Her vision blurred. The pressure crushed her lungs, choking out any response.
Then, he stepped off.
Not out of mercy. He simply had no intention of killing her. Yet.
Her body barely had time to recover before he rolled her over onto her stomach with his foot, like she was nothing more than dirt under his boot.
Fingers cold as death lifted her sweatshirt. Just for a moment.
"Don't tell me..."
She couldn't move. Couldn't fight. Only breathe in shallow gasps.
Then, he rolled her onto his arm, lifting her like she weighed nothing. Her mind barely registered what was happening until she saw it—his expression. For the first time in her life, he looked... shocked.
His dark eyes stared at her Zolda mark.
"That's absurd."
His fingers traced the glowing lines on her skin, his breath slowing as realization settled in.
