She woke up feeling sore all over, her body aching from the events of the previous day. Dragging herself to the mirror, she took in her reflection—bruises painting her skin in deep shades of blue and purple.

Sighing, she changed into comfortable sweatpants and a crop top, deciding to explore the area while training at the same time. She grabbed her phone just in case she got lost and, before heading out, quickly texted Aki to ask for Masaru's number. He did promise to explain, and she was going to make sure he kept his word.

Her speed carried her deep into the forest, following a small river that grew wider and deeper the further she went. Eventually, she stumbled upon a towering waterfall.

"So beautiful!"

Without hesitation, she stripped off her clothes, hanging them on a tree branch, and jumped into the lake below.

A loud scream of excitement tore from her lips as she resurfaced, the cold water shocking her system before her body adjusted. She forgot about everything—about pain, about her father, about curses. Just for a moment, she was free.

Then she decided to challenge herself.

Climbing the waterfall.

She failed.

Failed again.

And again.

But after what felt like forever, she finally made it to the top, her body trembling from exhaustion.

Breathing hard, she retrieved her clothes, barely able to feel her hands or legs, then made her way back to the small house. Once inside, she grabbed her phone and called her cousin.
