chapter 8

A couple days later ...

Zuko P.O.V

I was asleep in my bed before Izumi and Druk came in. They climbed onto the bed before he laid next to me and nuzzled my shoulder and Izumi sat on my stomach before shaking me.

"Daddy wake up!" She said as I groaned at her shaking me.

"Yes sweetheart?" I said tiredly as I rubbed my good eye.

"It's morning! Time to get up!"

"When did the sun get up?"

"Uh... a few minutes ago?"

"At least it didn't just get up." I said before sitting up more and Izumi sat on my lap instead. "Guess you want breakfast then, huh?" I asked after kissing her head.

"Mhm!" She said as she smiled.

"Alright." I said before trying to stand up while holding her, but Druk pulled me back down before I laid on my back and still had Izumi sitting on my stomach. "Yes, morning to you too." I said as I gave him scratches, which he leaned into and cooed at. I smiled before getting up again and walked to the kitchen as I held Izumi in my arms and Druk followed.

We got to the dining area where Aang and his family were. But Katara had her head down as the other two ate.

"Good Morning." He said as he smiled at us. "Sleep well?"

"Morning and yes until the little princess woke me up at the crack of dawn." I teased before tickling her, which she giggled and kicked her legs at. "How about you?"

"Slept okay, woke up because Katara got morning sickness and helped her. Bumi and Sokka woke up to it as well. Toph is probably still asleep since she likes to sleep late." He said as I sat down.

"Where's sokka then?"

"He got our breakfast before walking out again. Maybe getting his own breakfast."

"Alright." I said before Sokkka walked in with Toph on his back and set her on a chair. She was still asleep so she laid her head on the table. "Morning." I said as I smiled at him.

"Good Morning." Sokka said before walking back out. I chuckled a bit before setting Izumi in the chair next to me. She got comfortable and put her hands on the table. Sokka came back before giving the three of us our plates.

"Thank you. Have you been cooking?" I asked as Izumi started eating.

"Katara had a craving for sea prunes after having morning sickness  and I was already in the kitchen making those so I figured I would cook for the rest of us." He said before walking back out.

"He's been in a better mood lately." Aang said as he smiled.

"Mhm." I hummed as I started eating.

"Wonder why that is." He said as he looked right at me and I choked on my water as I blushed. I shrugged before eating as I didn't look at him. Sokka came back with another two plates before Drunk stood on his back legs to put his front paws on his shoulder.

"Calm down you fire noodle. I didn't forget you." Sokka said before putting one of the plates down and Drunk ate from it happily. Then Sokka sat next to Toph, who was between me and him, and started to eat as well.

"He's spoiled." I said as I chuckled a bit.

"Well he's a good boy. And can fit in here until he's about the size of Appa."

"Mhm." When we were almost done eating, Toph shot up in her seat and we all looked at her. "You okay Toph?"

"Felt something like water." She said as she rested her feet on the floor more, guessing trying to see what it was. I looked outside where the turtle ducks were following their mother into the pound probably for breakfast.

"Could have been the turtle ducks, they just got in the pond." I said.

"Maybe..." She said before crossing her arms on the table and resting her chin on her arms.

"You gonna eat?"

"Still waking up." She said before laying her head down.

"Alright." I said before chuckling a bit. We finished eating before Sokka and Aang took the dishes to the kitchen to be washed. I cleaned Izumi's and Bumi's faces with a napkin before Katara groaned. I got up before kneeling by her and rubbed her back.

"You doing okay, Katara?" I asked her before she shook her head a bit weakly. "What's wrong?" I asked before she sat up a bit and leaned on me with her arm around my shoulders. I held her up a bit by putting my arm around her back and she held my other hand. I looked down at her lap, which was a bit wet.

"Shit, your water broke. Kids go get uncle Aang and Sokka, okay? But wake up Toph first." I said before they nodded Izumi ran off to go find them as Bumi got up and started patting Toph's back.

"Wakey wakey!" He said as he patted her back.

"What?" She said as she sat up before noticing that Katara was leaning on me.

"Toph, stay with Karata. I'm gonna go get the medical servents." I said before she nodded and got up before sitting by her and holding her hand as she got her to lean on her instead. Then I got up before going to find them.
