Chapter 9

Zuko's P.O.V.

"You two keep the kids occupied! I'll help them!" Toph said as she went with Aang, Katara, and the medical servents. Sokka was holding Izumi in one arm since he picked her up earlier and Bumi was holding the bottom of my nighttime robe.

"Wanna go out so they don't walk in on that?" Sokka asked as he looked at me.

"Yeah sounds good." I replied.

"Is mama gonna be okay?" Bumi asked as he looked up at me. I felt my anxiety set in from when Izumi was born and I'm sure Sokka noticed.

"Yeah she's gonna be okay. We're gonna go into town for a bit and when we get back you'll have a new sibling." I said as I picked him up and held him on my hip like I do with Izumi. He nodded but still looked a bit worried.

"Yeah, you'll get to go shopping with me. Doesn't that sound fun?" Sokka said before Bumi nodded faster, seeming more happy. "Alright, I'll trade your daughter for my nephew."

"Alright." I said as I handed Bumi over and he handed Izumi over. I held her against my chest with my arm under her butt and my other arm around her back. He held Bumi on his shoulders.

"There's spare fire nation clothes in the guest rooms. So you two should wear those since we'll be out for a long while."

"Yeah, sadly for the two of us though."

"There's nothing wrong with red." Bumi said.

"I know but I like blue." Sokka said as he looked up at him.

"I like all the colors!"

"Yes I know buddy and that's good too." He said before going to the guest rooms. I went to Izumi's room before helping her get dressed. When I was done helping her, I gave her to Sokka so I could get dressed. Then I went back to them after covering my eye with a bandage. We all looked like normal citizens pretty much. The only thing that would probably stick out was Sokka's and Bumi's darker skin. But hopefully we would be able to play that off as an incense tan. Like master piandao, but he was partly water-nation too from his mother. Though Sokka's water nation tattoo arm bands would be the hardest to play off.

(A/N: this isn't true for master piandao, just a personal headcanon)

"Ready?" Sokka asked as I walked over before Izumi ran over and hugged my leg.

"I am." I said as I picked her up.

"Alright let's go." He said before we walked out but not without me telling the gurads's so they wouldn't panic again. They probably sent a hawk after we fully left to inform the police and other guards in town Incase something happened. We wandered around town with me mainly following behind Sokka and the kids since he was entertaining to them. Since he was more energetic than I was. We bought a couple things here and there before stopping for lunch.

We sat down at a kabob place where Sokka took the veggies off his so Bumi could have them and Bumi gave him his meat. Which a couple other customers walking by to take their seat probably thought were werid but they didn't really say anything about it. I took the veggies and meat off Izumi's stick so she could eat them better and Bumi put his veggies back on his stick to eat them like me and Sokka. We were eating before an elderly looking woman walked past and noticed Bumi was only eating the veggies.

"Don't be to much of a picky eater, that meat will help you grow." She said. She didn't seem rude about it but maybe a bit motherly about it. I didn't know what to say to cover it up and Bumi just looked a bit confused as he ate a cucomber off the stick.

"We live on a farm and we eat our own produce a lot so that's what he's used to. We finally had enough money to go out today and get some meat." Sokka said as a cover up. Thank god I had him in situations like this.
