CHAPTER SEVENTEEN | FIRE WITH FIRE

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

THE SITUATION SEEMED A LITTLE LESS BLEAK GIVEN THAT REBEKAH WAS NO LONGER LINKED TO THE EIGHT WITCH KIDS. Riley felt slightly more at ease knowing that whatever harm came to Rebekah, the eight kids linked to her would no longer be innocents in the fight against Dahlia. As soon as they approached the compound, the storm outside appeared to rage more furiously than before.

"It's done!" Rebekah clapped her hands together as she, Riley and Marcel strutted into the study. "I'm de-linked from those children, the coven's almost grateful, and we even beat the rain!"

"I trust that Davina will play her part?" Elijah eyed up his sister as he backed away from his prying view of the window.

"Yeah, against my better judgement." Marcel sighed.

"Listen, she desperately wants to bring Kol back to life. If she's made Regent to all nine covens, she'll be given the power to do so. Oh, as well as the political stance to unite the witches to our cause." Riley interjected with a smile before she dropped herself down onto the couch. "I'd say that's a win-win."

"Don't pop the champagne just yet." Marcel's eyes then flickered toward the window, noticing the storm. "Dahlia said she'd come for the baby, and now a storm springs up out of nowhere? You really think that's coincidence?"

"Well, regardless of her power, she needs to be dealt with." His gaze then turned toward Freya, who was still working on the spell. "Fortunately, we have a weapon."

Marcel's eyes fell to Freya as he scoffed in disbelief. "Look, no offence, but are we really going to put all our eggs in one still-kinda-mysterious-basket?"

"I assure you, I am quite motivated to aid in Dahlia's defeat." Freya's amused glare turned toward her older brother. She was still furious that Elijah double-crossed her. "Particularly now that Elijah has forced me to be the bait."

"And, if we should fail, Davina and the witches will take up the task, at the very least, distracting Dahlia long enough for Hope and Hayley to disappear."

The sound of the thunder cracking caused Riley to get up from the couch and slam the window shut. But, as she did, she noticed a blood stain on the panel. "Uh, I think we've got a problem." Riley pointed toward the blood.

As soon as Elijah and Rebekah saw the blood, they headed straight for the back room, where they were keeping Klaus' body in his coffin. As soon as they opened the door, the coffin was empty and Klaus had disappeared. "No! Where the hell is he?"

They suspected that it was Dahlia that had removed the dagger from klaus in an attempt to divide the family and win the Hybrid over to her cause. Riley refused to believe that Klaus would ever side with Dahlia, the woman who was bent on taking away his child. That conclusion just didn't sit right with her. However, the plan was in motion. Rebekah and Riley would perform the spell, using Freya's heartbeat and the golem which would create the illusion of Hope. The Mikaelson was worried about how the spell would go, given she was not confident in her own magical abilities, but Riley encouraged her.
