CHAPTER EIGHT | VOODOO IN MY BLOOD

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

THANKFULLY, RILEY WAS STILL VERY MUCH IN CONTACT WITH CAROLINE FORBES SINCE SHE LEARNED ABOUT STEFAN'S DEATH. The girl had explained everything about The Hollow and the fact that the Lockwood bloodline were entrusted with one of the bones they were looking for, and so Caroline asked Alaric Saltzman to assist Riley's needs. Riley hadn't had any contact with Alaric since she left Mystic Falls all those years ago, but she was appreciative of the help.

"So, as requested, I'm on my way to New Orleans with one creepy-ass, ancient finger bone." Alaric spoke down the phone as Riley let a sigh of relief escape her lips.

"Amazing. Thank you." The girl answered back as she wandered down the staircase and toward the courtyard.

"Oh, listen, one more thing. The Lockwood, they didn't just safeguard the bone, they kept records with names, dates and locations. Turns out they had knowledge of other families that were charged with guarding the rest of the remains." Alaric revealed. "Now, does the name Labonair mean anything to you?"

"Coincidentally, yeah. Heard it once or twice." Riley furrowed her brows at the fact Hayley's family name was mentioned once more. There had to be some sort of link between her and The Hollow.

"Well, good. That might be a lead to help you find the rest of the remains. Which you'll have to do yourself because my days of fighting monsters are over. I have my daughters to think about. And, I heard you've adopted your own?"

"Erm, something like that, yeah. Listen, I'll meet you off Route 59 at two, sound good?"

"If you're not there by ten past, I chuck the bone and the records in a dumpster and I'm gone. And then, you can fish them out of the trash yourself." Alaric's tone of voice grew more stern which immediately irritated Riley.

"If I were you, I'd reconsider that threat. Being a vampire-witch Hybrid tends to have it's perks. I'll see you soon, Alaric." Riley ended the call and rolled her eyes before she strutted over to Klaus and Elijah."

"—You and Marcel should marshal forces." Was the first thing Riley heard leave Klaus' lips as she stepped over to them.

Elijah's face dropped in disbelief. "I beg your pardon."

"We are in a race to find those bones. Marcel knows the city— he's the enemy of our enemy." Klaus assured his brother, though Elijah's displeasure remained. "Look, perhaps it's time to mend bridges rather than throw people off them."

Riley took a breath as Klaus spared one last glare before he left the compound. "Ouch." She turned toward Elijah with a smile. "It's okay. We'll do it together."

Marcel was not the least bit happy about helping Riley and Elijah track down the bones, but Elijah had offered him the only weapon that could kill him— the dagger Freya made. In return for his help, Marcel would be in possession of the weapon and never need fear the Mikaelsons.
