CHAPTER ELEVEN | HEART SHAPED BOX

A LOUD GASP ESCAPED RILEY'S LIPS AS SHE REGAINED CONSCIOUSNESS IN AN UNKNOWN LOCATION. Last she recalled, she was in the bell tower with Freya, attempting to locate Aurora and then she was unconscious. Riley rubbed the back of her neck, realising the familiar feeling of having it snapped. Her eyes flickered up to the psychotic redhead who sat before her, a smirk on her face the moment she noticed Riley had woken up.
"Oh! Finally." Aurora's cheered, clapping her hands together as she admired the woman. "You're awake. I was beginning to grow tired." The moment Riley managed to get onto her feet, she knew something felt off. The girl grunted quietly, eyeing up the vampire ahead of her. "I used the same concoction on the two of you that my brother crafted for me episodes. It's rather effective, wouldn't you say?"
"Motus!" Riley extended her hand and expected to see Aurora fly across the cabin, however the redhead remained unaffected. Riley weakly dropped down onto the couch behind her.
"Oh. Poor dear. Unfortunately, I've spent enough time with witches to know that casting spells requires focus. And, focus requires clarity of mind, something that you don't currently have." Aurora innocently grinned. "And, of course, I took the liberty of injecting you with vervain as well. However, you are more than welcome to come against me— it'll only hurry along your inevitable end."
Riley knew that without an edge against Aurora, she would surely lose. She exhaled, defeatedly. "What have you done with Freya? You realise Klaus and Elijah will kill you if you touch either of us."
"Yes! Their devotion to you both is exactly what I'm counting on. However, the life of poor little Freya depends solely on how quickly they locate us and will they do it before she bleeds to death." Aurora pouted.
"What?!"
"I shot her and buried her alive somewhere in the forest." As the words dripped from Aurora's lips, Riley sped forward and gripped her by the throat. Though, due to Riley's weakened state, the redhead peeled the grip away from her neck with ease. "Perhaps I might end you, instead."
"You will do no such thing." Elijah's stern voice echoed as the front door of the cabin creaked open. The moment Aurora saw him stroll cautiously inside, she moved her attention to him. "Aurora."
She sped over to a nearby table and grabbed the pistol filled with bullets made from White Oak. "Modern weaponry for the modern woman. With a little bit of flair, of course. I couldn't help myself. It's pretty, no?"
"Pretty vulgar. Theatrical and tasteless as ever." Elijah quickly retorted. "Where's Freya?"
Aurora's aim didn't falter as she chuckled. "Oh, Elijah. You remain a stick in the mud and it seems your darling sister takes after you. She's stuck in the mud, too, somewhere out there. Busy as a little bee, dying. If not already dead."
