CHAPTER EIGHT | SAVIOR

RILEY AND ELIJAH REMAINED IN THE SHADOWS OF A DOCKYARD IN SOUTHERN LOUISIANA. They had managed to narrow down Rebekah's location and so Elijah requested that some men recover the box from the sea bed without detailing just exactly what was inside. Riley was amazed that someone would pull Rebekah's body from the ocean without any questions asked, though they didn't seem the most legitimate of sources.
A forklift drove through a warehouse and carefully lowered the large crate in front of one of the many men tasked with recovering the fallen Mikaelson. "Right where he said it would be." The man rubbed his hands together as a few more men surrounded the box. "Open it! This Mr. Elijah Smith paid big money to have this dredged out of the gulf. Whatever's in it got to be worth a fortune." Watching as the men shoved a crowbar into the wooden lid, he smirked. "I say we renegotiate."
The lid was yanked off of the crate, they stared down at Rebekah's unconscious body. Her clothes were soaked, hair drenched and her skin grey with desiccation. As a few horrified gasps echoed through the warehouse, Elijah and Riley appeared behind them.
"I'm afraid that was my final offer." Elijah stated coldly, causing the man to turn on his heels.
"You were right about one thing, though. That girl in there—" The Evans vampire gestured to the crate behind them with a sadistic smile. "Priceless."
With a quick nod, Elijah sped forward and sank his teeth into one of the men whilst Riley followed his actions. With ease, the couple fought all the crew until there was nobody left to fight. They glanced around at the mayhem they had caused, then set their sights finally on Rebekah.
Riley's eyes fixed against the stake that was embedded in the blonde's chest, and wasted absolutely no time yanking it out. She handed it to Elijah, who placed it inside his jacket pocket just as a loud gasp left Rebekah's lips.
"Hello, sister." Elijah marvelled at Rebekah's almost instant recovery.
As she sat up straight in the box and brushed her blonde hair from her face, a smirk swiftly spread across her lips. "Tell me I didn't miss Christmas."

"I'm starving." A loud groan echoed from Rebekah Mikaelson's lips as she sat in the backseat of Elijah's sports car. "How long 'till we reach the Quarter?"
Riley's eyes flickered toward the GPS on her phone, then sighed. "About another hour. So, I'm guessing you can't wait until we're back to feed?"
"Considering some of us have been at the bottom of the ocean for God-knows how long, no, Riley, I cannot simply wait."
