CHAPTER EIGHTEEN | WHERE NOTHING STAYS BURIED

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

THE MOOD IN THE COMPOUND WAS SOMBRE SINCE CAMI'S PASSING. The Mikaelson family had suffered a tremendous loss and it seemed that the losses had every intention of piling up until they were drowning in it. The Ancestors had enacted their plan against Davina, and used Kol as a vessel. They filled him with such a horrendous hunger that he could not control it and so he fed on the woman he loved. He killed Davina Claire.

"This is a war." Elijah shook his head. Kol and Marcel had arrived at the compound, desperate for help in order to concentrate Davina so she could return. "Please, understand, I despise the situation."

"No. That's the wrong answer!" Kol frustrated yelled, lunging toward Elijah just as Marcel yanked him backward.

At the sound of Kol's frantic shouting, Riley sped into the courtyard. Her attention was immediately taken by the faint smell of blood that she noticed stained upon his shirt. "What is it? What's happened?"

"I— the Ancestors had control of me. I didn't know what was happening until it was too late, Riley, you've got to believe me!" Kol desperately spoke. Riley's entire world shattered the moment she realised what he was saying.

"I know this is a war, but I've lost a lot of friends, too. Today I need your help." Marcel pleaded with the Original vampire.

"Then you shall have it." Klaus stepped into the courtyard and nodded toward Marcel. "Come on, Kol. Let's get you cleaned up." He placed his arm on his younger brother's shoulder and ushered him up toward the bathroom.

"We'll do whatever we can to help her because there is no way I'm losing anyone else."

The three headed into the study where Freya had already received word on what had happened, and she knew exactly how to help. "We'll draw Davina's spirit to a circle. As long as she's there, the Ancestors won't be able to torment her." Freya vaguely explained whilst Riley used salt to create a circle on the ground.

"While she's in the circle, that'll give you guys time to find a way to resurrect her." Once she was done, Riley glanced between Klaus, Kol and Elijah. "But, we need to channel one of you."

"Well, take me. Put me down for all I care, if it keeps her safe."

"No. You've been marred by the Ancestors' magic." Freya shook her head toward Kol. "So, Klaus, Elijah, rock, paper, scissors." Before any decisions could be made on who would be used for the witches to channel, the array of candles immediately became lit. "My early warning system. I think a New Orleans witch is trying to meddle with one of you."

Klaus sighed. "Lucien has the new Regent at his beck and call. It's me he's coming after."

As soon as the words left Klaus' lips, the portrait of Rebekah that hung on the stairwell immediately caught fire. "No. Klaus, I don't think it's you he's after." Riley gulped. "It's Rebekah."
