Chapter 17
----
"Um can I have the salmon with French fries?" I ask the waiter.
My dad gives me a weird look and I smile, "I don't like the sides they have and fries are literally the bomb!"
He laughs and orders.
"So Chloe we haven't really talked that much. How's school going?" My dad asks taking a sip of his water.
"Good! I am thinking of going to University of Pennysilvania."
My dad widens his eyes, "Wow! How's your grades."
I laugh, "Actually pretty good. I got all a's in all my classes with a 4.0 gpa."
"Impressive! So how's your dating life?"
I choke on my tea, "What?"
"Sorry that was too soon. Your mom told me you have a boyfriend."
I press my nails into my palm.
"Um I don't anymore. Well we are taking a break."
My dad states at me waiting for more.
"His name was Max and he was the captain of the baseball team."
My dad nods as I dinner comes to the table.
Thank god.
----
That next day my dad was staying home from work.
So when I woke up he was surprisingly downstairs drinking coffee reading the newspaper.
"Morning sweetie." He says looking up.
"Good morning."
It was an awkward silence as I went to go grab a banana.
"What are we doing today?" I asked.
"About that." My dad says setting down the paper.
I turn to him.
"Today I have a meeting with someone and it is urgent so I won't be here for a few hours." He leans forward to look at the oven clock. "And I should probably be leaving soon."
I peel the banana and take a bite as my dad folds up the paper, kisses my head and walks upstairs.
I let my head fall back but also let a smile cover my face.////end of chapter 17
