I run off the school grounds and run on the sidewalk for a bit. After getting far away from the school I look back, . I see Peter running in the back while Sam takes the lead. Jason is nowhere to be found, at the moment, and I continue to run. Not looking where I'm going I run into the street.
I have to stop a moment to catch my breathe when I notice a car closing in on me. The car swerves, but it's to close.
I try to move but it's as if I'm rooted to the ground. I'm stuck, staring at the white car heading straight towards me. Through the window I can see the female driver panic. I can't save myself. I can't save myself.
I'm a mistake. Maybe I should have jumped in front of a car a long time ago. I'm a petty excuse of a villain, daughter, friend, and student. I'm worthless. I don't deserve to live anymore. This is a good idea.
I close my eyes and wait for impact. I don't squeeze them shut just merely wait silently, patiently for the release. It never came.
Right before it hits someone grabs me as we jump out of the way. I squeeze my eyes tighter hoping today was a dream.
When I finally open my eyes only to stare into a pair of blue ones. Jason. He is there laying over me, his black hair slightly blowing in the breeze. We're silent for a moment. Everything is so peaceful in this moment.
"What the hell were you thinking," yells Sam walking up to us.
"I was thinking of getting away from you assholes."
Jason stands and offers a hand out to me. I take it and he brings me up. Once I'm standing I dust off my clothes and mutter a thanks to Jason. Peter than is up next to us and his face is so serious I almost didn't know it was Peter.
"If you guys are going to ruin my fun I'm going to go have my own," I state in a monotone.
Peter immediately jumps in saying in a scolding voice, "That better not be the kind of fun I think you mean."
" It's none of your business," I say glaring at him, "and if you show up again the only mess you'll have to clean up is yourself." Sam and Jason are confused as Peter backs away from me.
All of the guys faces turn to shock as ny rage grows. I don't know why I'm angry, I just am. They continue to back away when I realize I have fireballs in my hands and the ground caught on fire. The fire goes in a straight line to the guys like a snake slithering over to its prey.
Jason, not knowing of my powers, gets really confused and I feel bad. Sam grabs Jason and they fly off as Peter swings off. After they're gone the flames only grow, but instead of surrounding the guys the flames surround me.
Using elements are my favorite so I obviously have used the fire before. The heat rarely bothers me. Unless there's a lot.
I sit there, in the middle of the road, and let the flames consume me. After a while I stand. I hide in the flames and rub my crystal. When I emerge I pull the tracker out of my belt.
Walking, I follow where the device tells me to go. The tracker is apparently located outside of Gotham and I hope the Batcave is too.
It's been a couple of hours. I walked all the way since I don't trust my powers at the moment. I am a few miles out from Gotham and I think I'm getting close to the tracker. Thank God. My feet are killing me.
Staring at the device I see that I'm close. As I still stare I run into something. After landing on my ass I look up to the wall of rock that I just ran into. That's not right. I look down at the device again in confusion. The tracker is supposed to be somewhere in the rock. How is that even possible?
I examine the rock carefully. There is something off about this wall. I knock on it and find, to my surprise, that it's hollow. Interesting. I check the device again and come to my final conclusion; this is the secret entrance to the Batcave. Right?
I place a device, that Candy gave me, on the rock and it opens. I was right! Slowly and cautiously, I walk in there. As I walk through I am awestruck.
This entire place is a literal cave. It's huge with high tech gadgetry and yet the feeling of a natural cave is still there. I don't know how to describe this, but it's beautiful.
I get near the main area of the Batcave and hide behind a rock. I only do so because I hear footsteps and groaning. The groaning person sounds as if he's in pain. Nightwing.
I peak over the rock to see Nightwing laying down only in a pair of boxers. He has some nice abs, just saying. He has bandages all over. Because of the way he is laying, I can't tell who he is. Well that sucks.
The groaning intensifies before he yells a simple word, "Alfred!"
An old man, I just now noticed, walks over to him on the table and begins to examine and fix him up some more. As he does so a certain bat walks over to the table. Still wearing his mask he watches the old man fix up the idiot.
"Alfred, how long until he's healed," says the gruff voice.
"The blade didn't strike him deep, no organs were injured, he lost a lot of blood; my estimate would be a couple of days to regain full conciousness and a week to completely heal him. Then, sir, you are free to lecture him or shall I," says Alfred in an uptight british accent.
"Thanks, but I can handle him. He should've told me before leaving. He should have thought it through first. He can't let his anger towards Mortuus Luna over run his brain. It's all he thinks of anymore," Batman says. Wow, he actually has real emotions.
I kinda feel special that the Dark Dodo thinks of me so often.
"We have a bigger problem than Nightwing's health right now," says Robin walking in and over to some big computer. The Batcomputer!
" What's wrong, " asks Batass as he walks over, leaving Alfred to take care of the Dark Dodo.
Boy wonder starts furiously typing as he says, "Someone paid me a visit today at school."
"Who?"
"Jason," Robin says grimly. What's wrong with my best friend!
"That's impossible. Master Jason is dead," cuts in Alfred.
"That's what I thought too until I saw him talking to an old friend," Robin continues as a picture of me pops up on the screen.
"Jennifer Laufeyson. Recently found to have powers. I thought I told you and your brother to watch her," Batman scolds.
"It appears Miss Laufeyson has been up to far more than we anticipated. May I suggest something sir," Alfred asks.
"Go ahead Alfred. What is it," what makes the Batman so interested in me.
Alfred answers that question when he opens his mouth to say, "perhaps she has become a villain like her father or a hero like her uncle. We don't know much on this girl. Who even is her mother? Who watches her? Who raised her?"
Robin types some more things when a selfie of me and mom appears, "Selina Kyle."
"As in Catwoman," asks Alfred.
"Wait! What!" Screaches Robin.
"Yes," says Batman. I can sense the emotions pain and sadness coming off him.
Did Batman and my mom use to have a thing? Ew, nasty! Yes I put that together quickly. Batman's not the only detective around here. Plus, I kinda suspected something.
"I think it's time we confront Jennifer," pipes up Robin.
"Would this be as you or as Robin," asks Alfred.
Batman steps forward saying, "I'll go alone, as Batman."
He hops into the Batmobile and drives off.
Robin gets up and walks over to Nightwing saying, "get better big bro."
Alfred puts a hand on his shoulder as they look at Nightwing. Alfred then continues to examine and fix up Nightwing as Robin leaves claiming homework.
