I tripped.

Y/n POV:
As I watched Astrid leave, I started to panic. How in Thor's name was I supposed to get out of here?! I began surveying the tall stone walls and seeing if there was anywhere that looked climbable, when I saw something. Did that rock just move? I asked myself. No I must be going insane. At least I thought, until it moved again.

As I was staring at the rock, it appeared. A dragon.

I felt my whole body go hot and sweaty. I froze. My breathing became unsteady, my hands got clammy and I stared to shake.

"HICCUP!" I began yelling. "ASTRID!" No answer "ANYONE!" My shouting must have frightened the dragon as it put it's spines up as a sign of aggression. I started walking backwards out of fear until I reached the wall. I couldn't go back any further.

I felt as if I couldn't breathe. I crouched down into a ball, crying, shaking. Everything went blurry and dark.

Hiccup POV:
I ran into the forest as fast as I possibly could. "Y/N!" I started yelling, trying to catch my breath. She trusted us and we let her down. I felt tears start to prickle the ends of my eyelashes. Then I heard grunting. The unmistakable grunt of a dragon.

I sprinted towards the sound until I stopped dead in my tracks. I almost fell into a huge pit. Then I saw it. The dragon. I saw Y/n in a ball in the corner. Please don't be- I started to think as the others caught up with me.

I looked into the pit. The others must have seen the look in my eyes as Astrid yelled "Hiccup no!"

I didn't listen. I immediately jumped down bracing myself for the impact of the harsh floor below.

Y/n POV:
The next thing I remember is a lot of yelling, then someone running up to me. "Y/n!" It was Hiccup. I looked up and saw that the dragon had gone. I jumped into his arms, collapsing my weight onto him. I was still shaking and crying.

Hiccup POV:
"Shh Shh, It's okay," I said holding the crying girl in my arms. "Deep breaths. You're safe now." I started to stroke her hair.

After a while we managed to get out of the pit. "What happened?" I asked Y/n. "I-" She began and I saw her look at Astrid. "I tripped.." "Are you okay?" I asked pulling her into a hug again. As I was hugging her I recalled what Astrid had said. I thought she said Y/n was taken by a dragon? I looked at Astrid, confused and slightly angry. It didn't matter. She was safe. That's what was important.

Y/n POV:
No one said a word as we walked out of the forest. Everyone said "Night." and went to their houses. Everyone apart from Astrid. "Astrid, go home." Hiccup said. She kissed him but he didn't seem to react.

When she was gone Hiccup began asking me questions. "What actually happened out there?" He asked giving me a serious look. "I told you," I replied trying to force a smile. "I just... tripped." And with that I turned around and went into my house.

Hiccup POV:
I didn't believe her. Why did they both have different stories?

I went over to Astrid's house. I had questions and I needed them answered. Now.

I knocked on the door and her mother answered. "Can I speak with Astrid please?" I asked forcing myself to smile at her. "Of course, Honey!" She replied happily. "She's in her room. Feel free to go up." "Thanks." I said entering the house and making my way upstairs.

When I arrived upstairs she was sat on the edge on her bed with he head in her hands.

"Astrid." I said, making her aware of my presence. She immediately stood up and forced a smile at me. "Hey, baby." She said as I walked towards her. "What really happened today?" I asked frowning at her. "I already told you?" She said looking confused. "You both had different stories of what happened. You said she was taken by a dragon but she said she tripped. Don't lie to me Astrid." I gave her a serious look. "What really happened?" "She was taken by a dragon! She must have tripped and fell into the pit while trying to get away." I wasn't 100% sure that I completely believed her but she was my girlfriend. I had to give her the benefit of the doubt. "Okay," I replied, pulling her into a hug.

After a while of hugging her I pulled away. "I'm sorry for questioning you." I said kissing her on the top of the head. "Yeah..." she replied, looking slightly down. "I need to get home and explain to my dad what happened." I said after a brief silence. "Okay, night baby!" She said smiling at me. "Good night darling." I said pecking her on the lips and walking out of the house.

Maybe that is what really happened. I thought to myself as I wondered back to my house. Maybe she really did just trip. I mean, Y/n would have told me if it was anything else. Right?

A/n - I hope you're enjoying the story so far. Obviously IRL I know Astrid is not like this but it just fits the story best. I love her really lol. I know these chapters have been slightly short but you have to remember that with the physical health, this sort of thing takes a while. I also have college work to worry about but hopefully they will get longer soon! Thank you for the support so far. Much love. <3
