I have seen a book like this before on this app which I have taken inspiration from for this chapter. It will be different however and I think it is very cute.
As always, flashbacks are in italics

November 2018

The older woman stood behind the counter of her little cafe she had brought in her early twenties. The coffee machines and cake fridges around her had become familiar over the past 30 odd years, the cafe having not changed since it opened back in the  late 80s. Each little detail had remained in its spot for that many years, from the kitchen, to the tables, to the little plant pots on the windowsill, everything had a nostalgic and vintage feel to it. The only thing that had changed were the customers that came and went over the years. From the early morning joggers, to dog walkers, teenage schoolers and business owners, each customer meant much to the woman, going by the name of Gail.

In particular gail had two favourite customers, an older couple who would come in every Sunday morning on their way to church, coming each week since she opened her cafe as a young naive trainee chef. They had always ordered the same thing each time. One black cofee and a mocha. Over the years gail had become friends with them and their family, getting to know them more and more each week until recently. It had become apparent to gail over the past few months, the couple who were in their mid 80s had both passed away at around the same time. And even though this was a very sad time for the couples families, gail missed nothing more than having a conversation with the couple every Sunday and making their usual coffees, it was like she had some sort of withdrawal syndrome and wanted nothing more but to have the couple back in her cafe ordering their black cofee and mocha.

Just as gail was thinking, she was knocked out of her thoughts by the door opening. She raised her eyes to be met with a flash of red. Not the ginger kind but a bright vibrant red, like she saw in the kids Disney film. She saw the red hair belonged to a small woman, dressed in workout clothes consisting of leggings and a long sleeved running top. She held a black Adidas backpack on one of her shoulder, which looked like was weighing her down but yet she looked so happy and full of life.
Following behind her was a man who looked a few years younger than the red head. He was a little bit taller than her and had light brown hair which fell over to one side. He had these blue eyes just like the gentleman who came in every Sunday with his wife, blue eyes which she noticed the red head was lost in as she held the door open for him before walking through.

The girl wondered up to the counter, gail greeting her with a warm smile, a smile which was returned.
The girls eyes wondered away from the boy next to her for a few split seconds as she gazed up at the menu board before she looked towards gail.

"Can I please get a large black coffee, and.....joe what do you want?"
The younger girl began before turning back to the man, gail now knew name was joe.

"A mocha please"
He smiled

Gail's heart warmed inside as she instantly realised this couple had ordered exactly the same as what the older couple used to get. Even though she didn't know these people and had never seen them before, she assumed they were a couple, but yet she still knew they could just be friends or colleagues, gym buddies even. But the fact they were a couple was her natural assumption, from the way they looked at eachother. It just made her happy inside having a couple order that, it felt like the older couple she knew so well were back with her and that this could all be happening again. Maybe there was a new couple she would get to know and would become regulars.
