"Where'd you come from?" Mom questions as she's in the kitchen.

"Out. I was with Jack after my classes" I tell her as I lock the door.

"When is your dad and I meeting Jack's family?" she questions.

Uh oh

"Why?" I question.

"Anong why?"
(What do you mean)

"Uhm they're busy people" I answer.

"Weren't you with him yesterday and last week? You try always with him and never at home when I'm here" she complains.

"Why are you being so annoying all of a sudden?" I ask her.

"I barely see you and you're going to act like you're the only person living here?  Et quand je suis là tu fais tout pour m'éviter" she replies.
(And when I'm here you do everything to avoid me)

"I'm a busy person? I go to college? I also have a job. Remember?"

"College when you should've become a doctor or nurse or something in stem instead of a writer" she grits.

Here we go again

"I'm not you or dad"

"Mga palusot mo lang yan" she says.
(Those are just your excuses)

"This is why I don't want to be in a room with you sometimes because we argue and this is what happens and you talk shit like it's nothing" I answer as I stare right at her.

"I'm letting you know before anyone else says something that you don't want to hear. It's on you if you get hurt or if you fail" she responds.

In other words I'm a disappointment but you don't want to say that.

"Whatever" I mutter before heading upstairs.

"Anong sabi mo? Pasagot sagot ka pa"
(What did you say? You still want to answer)

"I said nothing" I reply before walking into my room and locking the door.

Even if I explain myself it's considered "disrespectful"

I facetime Jack to see if he's on a break since they're practicing right now.

"Hey baby. You called at a right time" he smiles. "What's up?"

"Got into an argument with my mom again" I speak up.

"What happened? Are you okay?"

"She was bitching about how I was with you the other day, that she wants to meet your parents and all that" I explain.

"And she makes it about my ambition saying I should've been like her or dad like are you fucking kidding me?" I rant.

"Calm down baby. It's going to be okay" he calmly instructs.

"Just breathe honey" he coos and I take a few deep breaths.

"It's like one way or another that conversation is still going to be brought up and sometimes I'm just tired of it" I say as my head hits the pillows.

"I know babe, I know" he talks.

"Can you just talk to me? So I can calm down please?" I frown on the top.

"Of course. We're talking a long break anyways" he replies.

"They won't shut up about how they haven't met your parents yet" I talk as I stare at the ceiling.

"How so?" he questions.

"They wanted to meet them over dinner and just talk"

"And you didn't mention that they're here?" he smiles.
