The end of October is almost right around the corner. The Devils didn't win against the Kraken which made me sad on a 3-4 score.

Right when the game ended I got a call from Jack telling me himself.

"Rory" he talks.

"It's okay Jack"

"I really wanted that ramen" he jokes through the phone.

"We'll get ramen"

"No I don't deserve it"

"I think you do. You did really good- everyone did"

"But-"

"No but's Jack Hughes. We are getting ramen and that's final"

"I genuinely don't feel like going out the moment we land in Jersey" he admits.

"Do you want to come over then?" I ask.

There was silence at the end of the line.

"Jack? Are you still there?" I speak up.

"Y-yyeah I'm still here. You want me to go to your house?"

Fuck no this was a bad idea but fuck it because he's upset and maybe this'll cheer him up. It's the least that I can do.

"If you want to. Well if you can- because I don't want to ruin your training schedule and in general"

"I'm free tomorrow, the moment we get back it's our day off" he explains.

"Oh okay, I can just do like a pick up order then and get it before you come over"

"That sounds good. Are you fine with me going? I know you asked on the spot without thinking"

He seems to know me so well now

"Uh yeah. I just have to clean my room a little bit and my parents aren't going to be home due to scheduling so they're staying in NYC for the next few days" I explain.

"Alright. Uhm my flight is at 6 in the morning and we'd land around 11. I'd be cleared to go around 12- so 12:30 the most"

"That's fine with me. Oh uhm if the weather's not that bad tomorrow, do you wanna eat in my backyard?" I question.

He's probably going to be looking around inside because I have a bunch of pictures and awards and trophies all over my house that I don't think we should get into just yet.

"I'm fine with anything Rory, as long as you're comfortable with it that's all that matters"

He's so understanding what the hell

"Alright, I'll send you my address tomorrow morning then"

"Okay- I have to start getting ready to leave I'm still in my jersey and everything" he mentions.

"You are? Am I taking up your time? I'm sorry" I apologize.

"You're not, it's all good Rory. You're the first person I called"

I've never smiled so fast in my entire life before this.

"I'm flattered that you called me first. Uhm but yeah I should get going too. Thank you for calling me. You guys did amazing alright? Tell the guys that"

"Will do, and maybe I'll always call you after my games"

"Bye Jack, have a safe flight back"

"Good night Rory" he says before I end the call.
