"Ladies and gents!" The captain signaled the seat belt sign on the plane. They were headed for a turbulence zone on the way there.
"Please return to your seat with your seat belt fastened" Olivia cinched the belt super tight she felt like she would pass out, before loosening as her mind traveled to the safety of the baby. She hated flying, hated being suspended in the air when this wasn't the way humans were meant to be. Felt like a tube of death.
Chill, Liv. You can do this. Can't be scarier than learning your with child forty-eight hours ago.
"You good, honey?" A nice man with a hat rested on his knee asked. She nods after failing to find her voice. Her throat was dry while she was certain her face resembled one of Casper's.
"You don't look good" His drawl grew deeper with honest concern.
"Don't go off passing out on me now"
"I'm not" She gave him a tight-lipped smile.
"Just got a lot on my mind"
Her understatement of the year. Once she had left the doctor's office, she took three home pregnancy tests because she truly believed the doctor had been wrong. Only to realize that he wasn't. From there, she preceded to large amounts of Ben and Jerry's ice cream. This revelation explained the events of last week when she burst into tears while viewing, You, Me, & Dupree.
"I get that" The handsome stranger responds.
"You visiting family?"
"Yeah. My sister and nephews" And the father of my baby.
"They live in a small town somewhere in Georgia" She proceeds to explain.
"There's plenty of those" The man chuckled.
"You from LA or just passing through?"
"Nah, I live there, have been for almost twenty years now"
"Hmm, I spent seven days there. Interesting place, Been a southern boy my whole life. Don't travel much, but my brother got himself a job outside the city, so I aided in helping him move" Her heart started to fall back into its rhythm as he went on with his story.
"Nothing like Savannah, that's for sure" Olivia giggled.
"Definitely not. At least we have a Starbucks, though" They conversate an little more than the plane landed without incident.
"Thanks for keeping me calm" She shows gratitude to the cute country boy.
"Not every day I get to save a beautiful woman" As the door to the plane opened, he grabbed his bag from the overhead bin, with her realizing something.
"Ya know" She begins as he starts to walk off.
"You never told me your name" He smiled down, extending his hand, tipping his hat.
"My name is Spencer"
Of course, it is.
She disembarked the plane heading to the baggage area. She needed Kianna to tell her this was going to be okay because she was freaking out right now. Each year that passed, her desire for a family dwindled. The men she dated looked good on paper, but they ended up not being what she needed. Selfish, narcissistic, and never being close to being in a committed relationship. There had been one guy after college, only dated for six months before learning he had been cheating on her and she let him go after that. From there it was random dates and casual sex. She spent all of her thirty-six years content with being the friend who was never married, an eternal bridesmaid, never the bride. This worked for her. She liked knowing she could go where she wanted when she wanted. Now her days of being unhitched to anything or anyone had passed. All due to one crazy but amazing sexfest.
