"And what happened after that?" Kianna practically bounces in her seat as Olivia relays to her what happened the other night at the bakery.

"So you guys...." She placed the hot cup of coffee to her lips, with her eyes bugging out.

"No! We didn't" She laughs. Sometimes it was easy for Olivia to forget about how innocent Kianna always was. While Olivia screamed at parties, dancing on bar tables, among having sex in bathrooms, Kianna was studying. She wasn't adventurous but she balanced out the wild and crazy in Olivia.

"Why, afraid you might get pregnant?" She scoffed, her disappointment clear in her tone.

"No, my love" Olivia gave her an infamous eye roll.

"It wasn't about that, it was about us and him pushing this a little more"

"I bet it was" Olivia thought about how great Spencer was. She always knew he was a good guy. Kianna always spoke highly of him. She's seen him with the boys. Men don't spend time with other people's if they're assholes. She didn't think he was this fantastic.

"This might sound ridiculous, but..." Her lips pursed with a pause.

"Why the hell didn't you date him?" Kianna snorts clicking her teeth.

"Spencer and I have known each other since grade school. There's not one part of me growing up that he wasn't part of, but even then, Darnell was all I saw. Spencer was my best-friend, I never looked at him like that. I will say this, if there were no Darnell, I probably would've given him a chance at some point. Plus, he didn't show interest in me until Darnell, and I got together" Kianna giggled.

"It's like the kid who doesn't make the basketball team. Honestly, I could never see him in that light, his friendship meant way too much to me. Not that there was anything wrong with him. I would've been lucky to love Spencer. He's the most self-less person I know"

"I understand, I think"

"Ok, I'll put it this way" Kianna shifts in her seat.

"If Darnell didn't exist, I would've married Spencer before he had a chance of changing his mind. He's the guy you marry, Liv. He's the guy you build a life with and around. The one you move for" Her eyes became serious on that last sentence. She was indirectly saying to Olivia that she'd be stupid to walk away from him. She wouldn't say that out loud. Kianna knows Olivia needs to come to terms with this on her own, without being forced or like she has no other choice.

"I hear you, Ki, I get what your saying"

"So," Kianna draws out an word.

"Tell me where you're going on your date with him next week"

"I have no idea"

"Typical, Spencer. He probably doesn't know himself which is why he hasn't told you" Kianna warned Olivia how Darnell is the romantic type, Spencer not so much. He never had to make that kind of effort. In the same breath, Olivia wasn't a romantic type of woman anyway. She didn't care to be wooed or courted. She needed to know she wasn't wasting her time.

"Then again, I figure this date will be different. You better throw that rule book out" Kianna warned.

"I'm sure we'll break every rule I came here with, a thousand times over" She snickers.

"Oh, thank Lord. You really thought you guys wouldn't hit it off?"

"I wasn't thinking about it, frankly. I also didn't care for any outside input" Kianna's eyes studied her friends, remembering how much she really knew about her. Kianna heard Olivia cry several nights when her mother never failed to let her know how much of an disappointment she was. She watched her fall apart the night she told her that having her was a mistake and blamed her for being sick. Her mother blamed her in some way for all the horrible parts of her life she had to endure. She also knew Liv's mother was capable of horrid things. Kianna was on the receiving end of that once, until Jordan put a stop to it. On Kianna's wedding day, Liv's mother caused a scene about her seat placement, calling Kianna out of her name, throwing an fit, and Jordan kicked her out in the end. Liv's father smoothed it over, but it ended with Liv trying to fix Kianna's makeup after balling her eyes out.
