"I'm in Georgia"
Olivia reveals to her mother while sitting on the bed. She hasn't spoken to her since she temporarily moved here. She's felt that she's avoided her calls long enough. Olivia doesn't believe her mother cares about her, and this phone call was just for her to keep up appearances for her image. At the same time, Kianna had been hitting her up constantly about how her mother's been calling her and the boys to check on her.
"You could've told me this by now, wouldn't you agree?" she desists.
"I shouldn't have to find this out through my grandson. Of all things, Olivia, why did you decide to move there?"
"Listen, I didn't move here, just staying for a couple of months"
"Semantics" She dismissed.
"Well, I don't know what to say, I'm sorry Ma. It wasn't to hurt you, I just didn't think on it too hard. But it's not what it seems, it's only gonna be for a couple of months"
This is what she keeps deluding herself into believing. Kianna and Spencer have been preparing plans to happen for six months out, ignoring that she has a business to run and a partner to answer to.
"You don't call anymore" She whines.
"Your father and I still breathing, you know?"
"I get that, so am I mom. I'm here too. But my problem is, you only call for your convenience or when you wanna berate me. Why would I want to listen to that?" She heaved.
"I've got an lunch date in an few minutes, I just wanted to make sure your nephew wasn't lying to me"
"Well now you know that he's not so. He's not lying" she bobbed her head.
"Well maybe when you can stop being selfish, it'll give you sometime to think about your family"
"Are you serious? I've spent my entire life doing nothing but thinking about you guys. You remember what you wanna remember mom. Why is it so hard for you to see that I'm not the woman you think I am? I have my own business, I bust my own ass, I have friends, and I do just fine on my own" Her laughter reverberates through the line.
"Please, child. You ain't married, you live in a tiny apartment by yourself, you don't go where your brother or parents are because of your pride. Every time I turn around, I'm hearing more nonsense that you've done"
"Heh, wow, you must really think so little of me" Olivia exhaled.
"You're so dramatic, Olivia. I never said any of that. I just don't think you make the best decisions for yourself, much like your older brother in that way. Not like Justin"
There it was. She's too much like Jordan in her eyes. She has a heart. Her brother's been married for sixteen years, multiple mistresses, and she was sure his wife was messing around with the pool boy and housekeeper. If that's what she wanted her to aspire to, it would be a hard pass.
"Word? Okayy, well then, you'll really love this. I'm pregnant and living with my baby daddy. Thanks for the call, mom. It's such a deeming pleasure to hear all the ways I've disappointed you. Why don't you do us both a favor and don't bother calling me anymore. Give daddy my love"
She hung up abruptly tossing her phone across the table. Her anger elevated, fighting her urge to scream. She turned her head at the photo of Spencer and his family by the table. It expressed happiness and love, the opposite of her own family. A sudden rush of emotions flooded forward, and the tears began to flow. She wanted that. She wanted her mother to love her unconditionally. Even though she understood her behavior, it didn't excuse it. Her feet were moving, and she's out the door before she could process properly. She wanted to be around people who didn't take all of her energy. She wanted to see Spencer. He always makes her feel better, and right now, she needed him. As angry as she appeared, true sadness took over. Her heart was breaking because she felt alone, even though she had Spencer.
