The walk back to the orphanage wasn't too long. Just a little over five or so minutes. However, the girl decided to take a detour. Just to calm herself down and reflect on what happened. She let her feet lead the way as she traveled into an unfamiliar part of town. As she walked, (Y/N) couldn't help but feel a bit bad about her curt behavior. Rin was just being himself, right? That's how he's always been, yeah? Stern, kinda mean, and a little bit of an ass. But why did his actions today feel so different than before?

He has been gone for quite a few years, but he couldn't have changed that much, could he? Shaking the thought from her mind, (Y/N) looked up at the random street she was approaching. Though, something felt off... The air felt a bit heavier and the atmosphere was thick. A strong tension surrounded her as she slowed her pace. Something wasn't right.

"...Rin?" She hesitantly called out. "Rin, you there..?"

No answer. Pure silence. Even the humming of the cicadas and the chirping of the crickets seemed to stop. Time almost seemed to stand still. Nothing at all happened, yet (Y/N) was tense with fear.

However, the fear was justified.

A hot breath fanned down the back of (Y/N)'s neck. Instantly, she froze in place. Her heart seemed to be beating out of her chest, the sound nearly audible to the person behind her. The sound of the pounding deafened any noises coming from the individual breathing on her.

The slow, soft footsteps were blocked out in the girl's mind. She could feel the breathing get lighter, signaling that the person was moving away. She refused to turn around, the fear being too great. It felt like an eternity, but the person began making their way into her line of sight.

"I thought you said you would go straight home." A low growl reached her ears, the words finally being heard over her racing pulse. "You lied to me."

"Rin!" (Y/N)'s voice was high and came out almost like a shriek. "You have to stop doing that! I hate you so much!" She playfully smacked his shoulder, relieved that he was the one behind her. "What, have you come to apologize to me? Go on~ Say sorry~" Her previous snappy attitude was replaced by a teasing, coy manner of speaking. Rin, however, was not going along with her new attitude.

"You lied to me." He repeated once more, voice huskier than before. He took a step closer to her and reached out his hand. He made contact with her upper arm, gripping it tightly.

"Rin, what the actual fuck?" (Y/N)'s playfulness instantly dropped as she tried to pry his hand away from her. "You're really freaking me out now. Please let go." The man did not respond. His grip did not loosen either. "Rin. Stop." She put on a very serious voice in an attempt to get Rin to follow her orders. Of course, this did not work.
