"You do feel a bit warm," Keiko retracted her hand from Rin's forehead and sighed. "Go lay down in your room. I'll bring you some medicine." As the woman led Rin to his room, he let out a few fake coughs. At this time, he was giving his all to make them sound believable. The motherly side of Keiko came out after she heard this. "That sounds a little serious. You may have a cold or the flu. I think it would be best for you to stay in your room and keep away from the other children."

'Thank God I have an excuse to stay away from those brats.' The boy thought to himself. The two soon reached the bedroom. Keiko instructed Rin to lie down on the bed and tucked him in. A couple extra blankets and a glass of water were placed next to him in case he needed them.

"Did you come in contact with any of the other kids recently?" Keiko's concerned voice made Rin internally smirk.

"Only (Y/N)."

"Oh dear," The woman tapped her foot on the ground in thought. "You may have passed on this illness to her..." She whispered to herself under her breath. As she stood in thought, Rin mustered up some more fake coughs. Keiko glanced over at the boy. "I think it would be best if she stayed home this weekend. I'll have to break the news to her." A sympathetic sigh left Keiko's lips.

On the outside Rin looked completely calm, but internally he was jumping for joy.  He finally came up with a clever idea. Now Haruko couldn't see (Y/N) all weekend and maybe even next week if Keiko decided to keep them home to prevent spreading the "sickness". He was overjoyed at the fact he found a way to keep her away from her friend.

"(Y/N) will probably have to stay in here with you," The woman's attention was turned back to Rin. "Since you have a room to yourself and (Y/N) shares a room with the other kids, it'd be best to keep the only two sick ones isolated." Her reasoning was well thought out and in the best interest of the children.

"I think that's best too!" Rin quickly agreed. Keiko shot him a confused look but shook it off a moment later. The boy looked away sheepishly. "I- I mean, we don't want to get the other kids sick too."

"I'll go let her know." The unenthusiastic tone of voice the woman had evidently showed that she was not excited to break the news. A few minutes of silence fell upon the room until it was interrupted by the bedroom door opening. In walked (Y/N) wearing fluffy pajamas and a newly sewn up plush bear in her arms.

A very upset look covered her features. (Y/N) climbed on the bed next to Rin and sat down. "Mama said you probably got me sick," She started. As she shimmied under the blankets, Rin scooted over to make more room. "And now I can't go to Haruko's house to play."

"Oh well, that's probably a good thing," Rin began. He kept his usual neutral expression to try to conceal his pleasure. "I mean, you wouldn't want to get Haruko and his family sick, right?"

"But I don't feel sick!" (Y/N) refuted, voice raised a bit. "I want to go see Haruko!"

"But you'll get him sick," The mere mention of Haruko's name coming from (Y/N) was enough to get on Rin's nerves. "You need to stay away from him."

Once again, (Y/N) raised her voice to express her anger. "I'm fine!" Her young mind couldn't comprehend why should couldn't see her friend if she was feeling alright. "I want to see Haruko!" She chanted the same sentence a few times before Rin cut her off.

"Ugh, stop it! Stop talking about that stupid boy!" Rin's fists clenched and he gritted his teeth angrily. (Y/N) mimicked his frustration in her own way. She crossed her arms and puffed out her cheeks, face turning an angry red.

"No! I like Haruko and I want to go visit him! But you ruined it!"

"No, you did! You're the one that is constantly hugging all over me!" Both of the childrens' voices progressively got louder. "If you would have stayed away from me, you wouldn't have to be stuck here with me for the next few days! It's your fault, not mine!" What was Rin saying? He was speaking as if he really did want her to stay away. It was surprising to hear those words, especially for him. Obviously he didn't truly mean what he said. It was more of an in the moment outburst, but (Y/N) couldn't understand that.

When Rin looked back at his sister's face, a wave of regret washed over him. Tears streamed down the young girl's cheeks, small hiccups periodically escaped her. "I.. I..." (Y/N) tried to stutter out a response but she was unable to in her current state. Instead, she jumped up off the bed and ran out of the room to find Keiko.

"I'm a moron." Rin mumbled to himself as he watched the door slam behind (Y/N). Why would he say something like that? He knew it wasn't true. The sickness he claimed to have wasn't even real! He let his emotions cloud his judgement. Knowing that (Y/N) didn't want to spend time with him anymore made Rin a bit scared. She had been growing distant ever since the boy came along. Now, simply hearing Haruko's name was enough to get Rin upset. "I've gotta fix this, or else she'll hate me forever."

With that thought in mind, Rin began to try to figure out yet another scheme. His mind was too foggy with the thought of (Y/N) leaving him though. Every time he started to focus on something, he would always drift back to (Y/N). It was nearly hopeless for him to think of anything else.

'This is all Haruko's fault. If he would have never came along, (Y/N) would still want to be around me.' Rin's mind eventually went to darker places, imagining all of the ways he could potentially torture the poor kid. It would be so satisfying to hear Haruko's screams of agony. His tears of pain. His blood spilled.

It would be so satisfying.
